ya'll should know by now this show doesn't just put things in there for the hell of it. besides backstory and fleshing out the character, there's a purpose to mack's reveal. come on, now.

I know, they're still falling into that trap, 4 seasons in. Which, don't get me wrong, will only make things sweeter, but it annoys me. It's like, I think the writers deserve a bit more credit at this point.

The "Hope" thing was brought up during Mack's Ghost rider phase. I think the Rider told Robbie he could hold on to Mack's "lost Hope" as vengeance for a while. They also showed Mack holding a picture with the back saying Hope and a date on it.

It's been a while, but I believe the scene with Mack talking about his daughter is first time this is mentioned on the show, it's not something you "knew before". Also, there's a reason that reveal is there beyond just a relationship cliche, trust the fucking writers.

You guys are right. Talbot is family and they should have trusted him. Our characters do have flaws don’t forget that. That’s what makes them feel more real. Good on Chris for noticing it was a simulation before the reveal. We have never gotten a background on Mack’s personal life outside of his brother and do you usually ask people about their dead kids? So it’s understandable why he wouldn’t bring it up. We have only known Mack for two and a half years but most of that time is about work. So the writers gave us some background into his life.
