Sakura also was the only genin amongst Shikamaru who had perfected her genjutusu ability enough not to fall asleep but no one says squat. Saves naruto when the shurinken flies towards him. No one says squat. I get Sakura isn’t developed on until much later and she ain’t no Naruto or sasuke but calling her useless and weak, when no other character like tenten or Ino just for example who we haven’t seen do anything gets complete passes, and the stuff Sakura does do is completely ignored

"Like" just means one thing has similar characteristics to another thing. It has zero implications on what came first

huh. didint know/remember this battle (hokage vs orochimaru) came so early in the show. so different when you are watching 2-3 episodes at a time vs the one a week. doesnt feel as drawn out

cause you are saying "A is like B", implying B came first when A came first. if you watched "B" first, the correct thing to say is "A reminds me of B". there is of course leeway for things you dont know of cause of cultural differences. ex: im not a christian so i dont know this jesus dude but he's like superman.

I also love that Chris consistently notices and brings up the incongruity of advanced technology in this world. He was surprised that plastic existed too when people were throwing garbage at Shikamaru in the arena during the Chunin Exam. This fusion of feudal Japan and modern technology is completely intentional. Kishimoto loves Japanese culture/mythology, sci-fi, genre blending, and disrupting expectations. His new manga is a mix of the samurai era and sci-fi too. It’s a little like cyberpunk in that sense, where there’s a dichotomy of high tech and lowlife. Naruto is designed as a blue-eyed blond boy who wears garish orange because it’s the opposite of what you’d expect of a ninja too – all dark clothing, stealthy, discreet, and quiet. And I like that you caught on about Sarutobi stopping the Fourth Hokage from appearing and how he must have reassumed the position of Hokage after the Fourth died because he was still alive. You’re right. The Chinese character on the third coffin said ‘four’ too. It really would have been extra sad if the Fourth was summoned as a puppet to fight for Orochimaru. And as usual I loved the commentary about the dramatic camera effect during the fight!

So in the original manga that intro fight between 3rd Hokage and Orochimaru did not happen, they went straight into it, but I'm glad we got that alteration, since they showcased that 3rd Hokage was no pushover.

Sooo.... Naruto isn't given out about when he is also unable to defend himself against an attack but Sakura is still irritating? I get that the animation is slow, which can be deceiving for how fast everything actually is. In the manga, most of these things occur within seconds of each other, so it makes sense why Sakura and Naruto were slow to respond to attacks (especially since out of team 7 Sasuke is the one with speed).

Sooo i really like How Chris pick up background things like the tecnology. The thing is, Kishimoto wanted to put his hometown in the show somehow, so we can see that the houses and stores in the hidden leaf are morden stuff, and they have tecnology, but in the same time that is a ninja world, with lords and Kings e etc, he never really explain this, its Just there cause he wanted hahaha We never really see everything. Its there in the back, like a little easter egg, for someone like Chris to see and be like "wow i wonder How this all Works"
