I love Lexa and Clexa was the best. One of my favorite gay relationships in tv followed by Malec. Lexa is like my favorite character in the show as well. I think the way they killed her off was very crazy but I kept watching the show and I'm fine with it ;D.

They do that for most shows. Not all of them take this show super seriously. They didn't take AoS seriously until the end of season 2 really, maybe they will take 100 serious eventually.

There's no AI storyline at all in the books. The plot in the books not as good as the show. The only similarities is the Arks existence and like 3 characters- Clarke, Bellamy and Wells, the latter 2 are half brothers and Octavia is like 12. Also station 13 was mention in 1x09 by Finn!! This is why you guys should write stuff down like blindwave!

This is the episode where everything they have set up from the first 2 1/2 seasons finally all ties together. It is easily one of the best episodes of the entire series. Even with the emotional stakes and the issues around Lexa's death, it is objectively a very good episode and deserves to be praised alongside the best of episodes of sci-fi on television in 2016. Pike plays a large role in setting up a Octavia's storyline for seasons to come. I can understand why you would think he is unnecessary, Marketa, seeing as you stopped watching in season 3 but he is very important to her character going forward even as far as seasons 6 and possibly 7. As far as Raven goes, keep watching guys. Raven, and by extension Lindsay Morgan, is freaking amazing this season. We are just now getting to the part where everything coalesces and the real villains take the forefront. There is a lot more to see of Raven, ALIE, and Jaha this season. The books and the show are similar in name only and like three characters. WB bought the rights from the author Kass Morgan, and then turned it into their own thing. This is an instance of the show/movie/adaptation being leagues better than the books.

I wouldn't really lump PoI into this as Root was so much more than just her sexuality. She was an incredible character overall and she got a heroic death.

This doesnt even come close to being part of that trope. That trope was initially born out of LGBT writers wanting to find a way to get LGBT relationships into media and books without starting controversy and then shifted to being a way to discourage people from even exploring that side of sexuality. It is usually marked by the surviving character almost immediately ending up with a character of the opposite sex and treating the LGBT side story as "just a phase". This doesn't even come close to qualifying for that. Yes, the way she died was crappy, but it WAS NOT and never will be a instance of Bury your Gays. This is about tragedy, this is about Titus's issues of needing to control Lexa, and this is ultimately about the fact that for Lexa love is weakness. The same thing happened with Costia, she let her heart rule her head and Costia died for it. This is the natural progression of Lexa's in universe weakness for those she loves. Despite all of this, this episode is amazing and it ultimately propelled the show to where it is now. I wish they had been faster in offering ADC a contract to become a regular, but sadly AMC was faster. Just, to all fans, can we please not have a repeat of the nightmare that was March 2016 when this episode aired for the first time? As a member of the fandom form season 1, I do not want to relive the hell that was this fandom post Lexa's death. It is not a pleasant memory and I do not want to see the viewership of this series die because of a repeat of what happened 3-4 years ago. This show is far too good to be abandoned because of this.

Everyone was mostly mad about HOW lexa was killed more than anything. It's the exact same scene from buffy and many other lesbian deaths on TV so they really missed the mark on this one. That combined with how much the writters/showrunner interacted with clexa fans pretty much baiting them knowing this was the endgame... so all hell broke loose online. Clexacon is now a thing and the Bury your Gays troupe is more known and talked about with writers and show runners who don't want to make the same mistake. Thank y'all for the reaction!

I honestly thought Clark was starting to hold Lexa back, and I feel like they wanted her death to be shocking, not everyone dies a hero... also I just finished season 6, and this show takes some weird turns. Literally anything goes for season 7. I feel like its gonna be a shit show. Lol.

Tbh I never really cared about Lexa - I was too focused being angry about why the writers decided to take a dump on mah boi Bellamy. But sure, it is a REALLY bad way to kill off a character. Just a random shot, not self-sacrifice, or atoning for past sins, not dying a meaningful death, just...one stray bullet.

Listen guys, I get that it's very sad and all, but......a) in hindsight, it finally allowed Clarke to get reunited with her delinquents again thus ending the sluggish Polis politics arc and b) Lexa was still a bitch for MW and I'll take Niylah and Clarke anyday

I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing the day this episode came out. I was backstage during a production of High School Confidential waiting for my next scene while reblogging funny star wars posts to show some of the others during a scene where a few of us have to look at my phone for a while and laugh. That's when I got a bunch of notifications from twitter and discovered the absolute shitstorm unfurling online. I remember wanting to cry, but I mostly remember the rage. The reason I started watching The 100 is because I learned that there was a canon lgbt character and pairing. I was excited that there would be lgbt rep. Then they kill her off in one of the worst ways possible. I think that was when I first heard of the phrase "bury your gays", but it sure as hell wasn't the last time. Even after all this time Lexa is still one of my favorite characters. LONG LIVE HEDA!

It wasn’t just her being killed off and her being a minority tho. It was the fact that the show runner saw people getting upset at other shows (oitnb, waking dead, vampire diaries, person of interest, empire there were more I just don’t remember them (all in 2016 btw)) and was like my show is so diverse and different we would never do something like that. he bragged a lot about how progressive the relationship was and how much good press it was getting him knowing she was getting killed off exactly in the same manner as *spoilers* one of the lesbians from Buffy. It was less that she got killed off because she had to leave the show but more that the show runner decided to promote the relationship as groundbreaking when it really wasn’t.

Me, waaay more upset, throw my phone upset 🤣 but it propelled a character arc into amazingness!

Lexa’s death is what prompted me to watch the 100. My entire tumblr dash and fandom friends were really upset. There was HUGE backlash to her death and they handled the aftermath terribly. Her death triggered the “Bury your gays” movement that still lives on through Clexacon today. It’s the way they killed her off that angered me. A stray bullet is so disrespectful and a blatant Buffy ripoff. She’s a commander, at least take her out in a badass way. Smh

2016 was a bad year on tv for *minorities in general*. but with this it should also be mentioned that the showrunner had writers infiltrate lesbian message boards and bait the fans on there as well. the entire treatment of this storyline and later things this season were a god damn mess. the creator of this show is like a full on unapologetic racist and f/f festishizer. hope he never works again bc the level of unprofessionalism coming from that man blows my mind. perfect example of how mediocre white men are handed everything to them without having to put in any work.

This was the "big" controversy in season 3, not Bellamy's character turn as Chris previously suggested... The reactions were mostly both a combination of whiny tween "Clexa" shippers who watch the show only for the "ships" and the LGBTQ community who blamed the show for "Burying their gays".

2016 was one of the worst years for lgbt characters. There was a lot of baiting from the show runner where he was saying Clarke and Lexa were endgame and then he said everyone had to watch this episode because it was amazing. After the episode aired, he lost over 20k twitter followers overnight. It was pretty bad and it did spur a lot of the LGBT community into action including raising $165k for the trevor project and the creation of Clexacon which is a convention in Vegas which I believe attendance was around 2000 people the first year, and 4000 the last 2 years. Personally, I wasn't mad at the storyline, but only because of what I saw was potential for it. Unfortunately, it didn't go the way I thought would be beneficial and I stopped watching after 3x10. I just couldn't anymore.

Lexa mentioned the other Commanders were talking to her while she was dreaming so the version two of ALIE is actually why Lexa said, in season 2 (in the gorilla episode) that their religion was based on reincarnation and she was able to hear the others talking to her.]

This is the controversial episode. It was enhance because a lot of shows around this time were actually doing the same thing. I think like the number of queer woman on tv got like cut in half through bury your gay tropes. The 100 at the time was seen as like super amazing representation while a bunch of gay characters were getting killed off so everyone got super pissed when it happened. Huge protest caused creators to quit Twitter some advertising to pull from the show viewer loss etc.

The reaction to this episode was so big, it’s the reason I wanted to check out the show

When this episode aired, all the LGBTQ+ fans were not happy at all and tried to even petition to have the show cancelled to the point where the showrunner had to quit twitter. Lexa's death invoked the "bury your gays" (killing a queer character becuause they're supposedly more expendable than heterosexual characters) trope just right after clarke and lexa consummated their romance, also invoking the "sex equals death" trope. It also doesnt help that even though this was mostly due to lexa's actress becoming a series regular on fear the walking dead, of all the ways she could have gone out, it ended up being up by a stray bullet. Worst of all, this episode kinda started a "bury your gays" period for lack of a better word for a whole month where right after killing off lexa, a bunch of other shows started killing off their gay female characters including empire, orange is the new black, the vampire diaries and the walking dead. That said, I don't think this was the worst episode becuase we did get a lot of important exposition and a pretty big twist with te other a.l.i.e a.i, It's just the most divisive episode. The worst episode of the season definately goes to episode 9 and by the time you've seen this comment, you know why
