One of the reason the chimera ants are being extra aggressive is because the queen has consumed some really shitty humans (underground members). Also the problem with reinforcements is that if you send a lot of hunters that aren't strong enough and they get captured and eaten by the queen, you are just making the opposition insanely more powerful. (Also hunters take the jobs they want to take and not told what to do ect.)
