This one's definitely more of a binge show. It doesn't get decent until episode 8 or 9 IMO. Then it's just an OK show. There's some cool fights, interesting backstories, and nice plot intertwining/callbacks that piqued my interest enough to be on the look out for season 3.

The problem in that logic comes from how anime seasons are set-up in the first place. The fact is that the actual storyline of Seven Deadly Sins just doesn't start until the end of the first season. Because the first arc (what they made the first season out of) of the story mainly serves as introduction for the events that follow. For all intents and purposes what you're saying is that you didn't finish the prologue. Granted the anime is pretty poorly made (especially the english voice-acting, ugh), so I can't really blame someone who's only watched it.

Just to state some defenses for the show, first of all the first several episodes are by a MASSIVE margin worse than the rest of the story. Heck, I’d even say that the entire first season is a just terrible example of the story as a whole. Secondly, to address some of the points the Normies and commenters brought up, there are factors at play between Meliodas and Elizabeth that the story takes a while to get into. Suffice to say that his groping her didn’t bother her, and more importantly he did know that it wouldn’t. Which is related to ‘weird attitude’ you guys were pointing out about Elizabeth just meeting him like 15 minutes ago. There are plot reasons behind these things. The story just takes an arguably awkward length of time to point these reasons out.

I'm glad they gave the dub a shot, even if they didn't stick to it. Honestly I feel the dub is cast better and the humour is a little easier to digest. Especially when it comes to the Greed Sin and the Lion Sin. Show is still a pretty mixed bag in any language though.

The animation boosts it up a bit, I think the presentation and the fantasy elements are what people like more than the series specifically. Fun characters too (at the cost of truly compelling writing).
