Comments

Jarlyn

It was a weird show...

Joel S

If you think about it, Stan Lee gave us both most of Marvel and the Power Rangers

Joel S

Can't believe you didn't catch the jojo référence, road roller da

eliphass

Fun fact spider-man was the original spandex suited hero with a mecha. Precursor to power rangers etc.

Dale Cooper

Tattoo teenage alien fighters came on USA

frank j

Hasbro has the rights to power rangers now

It's funny how you bring up the Ginyu force as the O.G.'s of flamboyance I actually like to think they had a deep psychological influence on Gohan during his time on Namek and maybe that's why he went through his Saiyaman phase.

Tokusentai is basically the ginyu force pose. Parody of "Super Sentai" Which is the Japanese Power Rangers franchise (1975-Now). Specially the older Super Sentai series they did ridiculous poses no matter how silly/flamboyant it is. Fun fact: Majority of the Super Sentai series usually have only one female in the squad. If there is a yellow ranger; it is usually casted by a male.

As far as i know, Power Rangers is basically the Super Sentai show from Japan, except the scenes with all of them out of their suits are newly shot scenes specifically for Power Rangers, whereas all the scenes in their suits are literally just taken from Super Sentai and dubbed over. And Super Sentai came out WAY earlier than Power Rangers, i think.

Holy fuck thank you. I thought i was going crazy, i thought either this episode was released way later than i thought or Resurrection F was released waaayyy earlier than i thought. Never knew the song was released 5 years prior to the film. thought it was made specifically for the film lol.

I'm pretty sure Culturally "Toku Sentai" basically is the name of the show that ultimately became what we know as Power Rangers. At least the genre as a whole. If you break down the term since the Japanese love shortening and combining words: "Toku" is shortened Tokubetsu = Special "Sen" could be short for "Sensou" = War, or Senshi = warrior/soldier adding "tai" to the end = group/team (not sure what the root word is). Ultimately to my understanding saying "toku sentai" is translatable to like "Special Forces", but this is all observation not formally learned so I could be very off somewhere.

Not everyone has watched Jojo, you're comment is incredibly ignorant lmao, ofc I do love Jojo but still, do you see the fuckery in your logic there?

The Pebble

You guys didn't even get the Jojo reference with the time stop "za warudo" and the steam roller..... :(

L

Technically, Guldo's ability to stop time is much more powerful than Hit's ability to skip time (he doesn't "stop" time, just leap a little bit into the future). Guldo's time freeze can be held as long as he holds his breath (let's assume is between 2-3 minutes) Hit's time skip's duration is only less than a second. In theory, if Guldo was about as strong as the rest of the Ginyu Force, he'd even give Frieza some trouble.

Miasimon

No one got the Jojo reference...

Thanks for this fam!

Trig

Toku is just a shorter way to say Tokusatsu which is basically Kamen Rider, Ultra Man Godzilla, or Super Sentai which is known as Power Rangers here in the States. Hence “Toku Sentai” since its a group doing poses.

Joseph De Leon

Bro Nahid your face when Krillin admitted liking a little indian child.... too funny xD

Neil Patel

All these years of rewatching Abridged and I never noticed Guldos attack was a JoJo reference....I have failed you Lord Dio!!

Micheal Hernandez

Nicole Scherzinger’s in MHA?

WhateverIFeelLike

Just in case you guys are wondering. Goldo’s ability is a parody of Dio from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Even the dropping of the steamroller. Beetle Borgs and VR Troopers are based off the Japanese Metal Heroes. Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills is hilarious/cringey show, you should look it up.

Ehhh the Ginyu Force are a parody of Super Sentai (commonly known in the states as Power Rangers), which have had different iterations running in Japan since the late 70s. As for the Pussycat Dolls from MHA they are a parody of magical school girls, which was popularized by Sailor Moon.

ToySouljah

For the record, this ringtone song "Tsume Tsume Tsume/F" (which was written amd recorded by the band Maximum The Hormone as a tribute to Frieza because they loved his character) was released 2 years prior to this episode and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F wouldnt be released for another 5 years when this episode came out. Also, the band also did another song for one of the best anime intros ever
