Hallo!! It is update day everynyans.. And this week's episode is kind of a filler one but it's a really important one for me :( The American incarceration system is something that I care a lot about so I wanted to dive more into Mashiro's past as a pro bono lawyer who helps convicts fights unfair sentences, and how hopeless he was from having to play in the system that doesn't care about justice or reform, which ultimately leads to him being poached by Chohan.

There's a lot of parallels between Mashiro and Cherie, but both their character developments in the Syndicate were going in opposite direction. Mashiro going from a righteous lawyer to a jaded person who gave up morality to serve Chohan, and Cherie going from a hopeless and suicidal spectator of his own life to someone who actually values community joy and lives for others. It's fun to finally draw Mashiro cracking! Cherie is reminding him of what he used to believe in before he worked for Chohan, their conversation were written in my head before I even drew Mashiro's concept art LMFAO I just KNEW Cherie had to change someone's prejudice towards Crush, and I'm so glad we're finally here..!!
The motif of this episode is of course.. change.. I know some of the stuff I write is unrealistic, and even though some of it is based on truth, a lot of it is still just things I pull out of my ass, the comic is so personal to me, I love every single fucked up characters I write for, and I try to have people see their sides even if they're an antagonist.. Even though here's no scenes of Cherie or Crush together here, they're connected by Mashiro, Cherie and Crush are always connected, they think about each other in everything they do, and they definitely think about each other when they talk to Mashiro in this episode.
HOLY YAPPING DAYUM !!!!!!! So much typing for what essentially is a filler episode for a side character...... BUT honestly it's one of my favorite episodes to write and script so far, just because of how many layers it has, and it's a perfect set up episode for the first arc's big climax as well! A big party!! At a billionaire's house?! What could possibly go wrong???? 😱😱😱😱

UGH I WAS THINKING OF WHAT TO COMMENT WHILE I WAS READING BUT I FORGOTTGSHAFJAA the way you can see how much hope and trust cherie has in crush is so beautiful and i'm glad that cherie can show that to mashiro. AND HE LITERALLY CHANGES MASHIROS WHOLE OPINION ON CRUSH JUST BECAUSE OF HOW HONEST HE WAS WHILE TALKING ABOUT CRUSH IM SOBBING. this episode is sososoos good IM IN LOVEEEE crush really does love cherie and im glad that he's really taking the effort to change and i hope he proves chohan wrong and shows that he isn't his "bad dog" any more
