we need to see more of this guys

Actually, Rickie, I HAVE been bullied and you know what my bullies didn't ever do? They never comforted me when I was hurt or reached a hand out to me in any way. Jim's bullying is much more like a friend messing with another friend than malicious bullying. And yes, there's a HUGE difference between those two things.

Tmatts

Is it unpredictable though?

K Murray

Dwight is nuts, and Jim pays him back... but Jim is DEFINITELY also a bully. He's just more subtle about it, but I mean, half the guys life is spent messing with people.

Bisibia

This so much. Ok, so I get and can understand people not liking Jim. While most of them are harmless, his pranks to Dwight are plentiful, and I can understand people sympathizing with Dwight he is socially awkward and doesn’t seem to really pick up on social cues. But Jim is not an evil merciless jock who lives solely to bully Dwight, and Dwight is not an innocent little victim being picked on for being awkward and nerdy. Dwight is an asshole. He is constantly trying to get people fired, any little bit of power he gets he uses to ruin other people's lives. As we see in the Healthcare episode he tries to learn everyone's private medical conditions, and when that fails he throws a temper tantrum and forces everyone in the office to reveal them to everyone. He’s sexist, he brown noses constantly, and he constantly makes life more difficult for everyone in the office. He’s not completely awful as he takes his job seriously and expects professionalism from his co-workers which isn’t a bad thing at all, and he’s a really hard worker, but those other things I mention constantly get in the way of his forward mobility options because he’s such an asshole to everyone, constantly, all of the time. Dwight being an ass doesn’t excuse Jim's constant pranks on Dwight, but it helps to explain why he does prank Dwight as Jim can recognize all of those negative things about Dwight. Also unless it happens in a cold open, in seasons 1-2, Jim’s pranks are ALMOST ALWAYS a direct retaliation for Dwight being a jerk. As the series goes on this starts to change and in the later seasons, Jim’s pranks come across more as bullying to me, because the writers knew that the viewers loved Jim’s pranks and started to ramp them up more. However, I don’t think we’ve reached the point where this happens. Also, I will say this is probably one of Jim’s worse episodes because the way he just dumps Katy is cold and mean and while funny the cold open prank is just plain to mean and gives people really good reasons not to like him. But Jim does have sympathy for Dwight as you’ll later see. I can understand people not liking Jim but he’s not just a 2-dimensional bully who pranks Dwight just to make his life miserable. Also, that being said I’m glad there are people who don’t like Jim reacting to this series as it gets boring if everyone just has the same opinion.

David Butt

being a sociopathic asshole is not a personality one should tolerate. dwight had it coming.

Adam Teague

It would be one thing if Dwight was an innocent person and just being bullied for no reason like in high school however Dwight brings a lot of the crap onto himself and often bullies those around the office who's name isn't Jim. The healthcare plan episode is a great example of that. It's hard for me to feel sympathy for someone who's a bully and gets a taste of their own medicine through innocent pranks. I've worked with people like Dwight and they're the absolute worst human beings to work with in an office environment.

Chaos T

spoken like someone who has never been bullied before in their life........such a bully. the shit he has done has been done to me. its disgusting but hey he's "cute" and white. just remember, one man's "joke" is another man's pain. "i dont like this person's personality so its ok for me to antagonize him" yep thats how the bully "mind" works...........EVIL

rickie woodson

exactly. all of jim's pranks are totally innocuous too. dwight really is a douche bag that deserves to get messed with.

Adam Teague

Plus not only that, but while Jim messes with Dwight a lot, he's also usually one of the few that actually treats Dwight decent. He and Pam often comfort Dwight when he's at his lowest - example already being the episode "the fire" from earlier this season.

Tmatts

Booze Cruise 😉

MojoJojoGojo

This. 🤙🏻

Champion Bescos

hopefully you guys start to notice that this show isn't just 100% comedy and the serious subplots are what make it one of the best comedies in the history of TV. also Jims not really a bully at all. everything he does is payback for dwight being the way dwight is towards him on a daily basis which was a precedent set very early on in season 1. at worst they're perpetually even with eachother.

bnut

He loves to be annoyingly contrarian. Just not sure if it's his normal personality, which if it is, oof, more power to the others or if he just plays it up that way for the cameras, which in a way sucks because then it's like a fake reaction.

slipHAZARD

Lol. He can come across as always liking the heel character, true, but Pat is often just fun and unpredictable — coming from a huge Jim fan.

Champion Bescos

I have a feeling that if everyone hated Jim and Jim wasn't a fan favorite, Pat would be defending him all day.

Tmatts

at least this came out thankful
