2023-01-08 18:18:25 +0000 UTCI mean, sure, Knives' development is important and a valid reason, but honestly even considering all that, I think them ending up together would say even worse things about Scott's development. The ways in which she massages his ego and represents something safe where he doesn't have to worry about another Envy are all facilitated by the fact that she's 17!!! Even though she turns 18 or is about to turn 18, it's still like, the relationship is regressive on such a fundamental level that it is just incredibly wrong for him to end up with her.

2023-01-08 08:42:10 +0000 UTCScott doesn't end up with Knives in the comic, he ends up with Ramona as he should. But the confusion over the ending is understandable since the movie was being made even before the graphic novels ended. And the author Bryan, who was really involved in the film, was still working out who Scott should end up with or if maybe he should even stay single. Edgar Wright shot an ending where Scott ended up with Knives but luckily test audiences hated it for ibvious reasons. Namely that Knives' character devolpment would have been thrown out the window and quite frankly she deserves way better than Scott. Because let's face it, Scott may be a likeable guy but he is also a big douche and kind of a jerk and selfish. This is actually even more apparent in the comic.
