Podcast Questions!

Hey guys, we need some questions for tomorrow's podcast. Fire away!

Comments

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild I startet playing with HUD on Pro, which means you can only see your health. The map and special abilities disappear from the screen. Do you like to play that way? Personally I think I'm going to play all my open-world games that way, if the world is as interesting as in Zelda. Otherwise I just feel like I'm clearing the map from objectives instead of discovering the world. Looking forward to play Skyrim on Switch that way :)

Also what do you guys think of the super power wher you can steal other powers?

If you guys were to make your own game, what ability or power would you give the main character/s and would you make it a boon or a bane for them?

Hey guys. Question on the recent logistics change. How far away exactly did Mike move? Was it 10-15 minutes, an hour, over an hour? How do you see this impacting the channel (reviews/podcasts/etc) and does it mean the end of the Dark Pixel main channel? How long do you plan on keeping the channel going? Also, congrats to Casen on becoming a dad!

Zenmenz96 here. Podcast question if you need one: How important is math/quantitative thinking in the process of creating "balance" in a game? (Is trial-and-error good enough? Do companies have secret mathematical formulas? etc)

With FFVII for PS4 your point is interesting. With the click of R3, your limit breaks fill up and your HP and MP are instantly restored. It is VERY easy to activate in purpose or accidentally. I would personally put those cheats under a menu, but keep the ones for 3x speed and no random encounters easily accessible.

Ooh I like this question. I have a possible addendum. I've heard some gamers (including TotalBiscuit) argue that adding easy modes to games doesn't hurt the people who like challenge because they always have the option of ignoring the easy mode. I would argue that there's a huge psychological difference between challenges that I have no choice but to accept and challenges I impose on myself, and that the first category is far more intrinsically satisfying, so adding an easy mode DOES potentially harm the experience for players who like challenge, just by existing. What do y'all think? Am I crazy? :P

Doom(2016) has proven that some old concepts are not out of date. It uses Health Packs and lots of strong motivation to keep you in the action and constantly fighting enemies without doing cover based system like most modern shooters have today and reminded us that just because it old doesn't mean it is archaic and wrong. Would you please offer your thoughts on how you felt about something like this and what concepts from the past you like to see come back into the modern era. Can be anything.

If Square were to announce FF16 as a 2D sprite based game, similar to FF1-6 (but of course, with a much larger budget), could it sell in the modern age?

Box Art, Can you judge a game by its cover? What makes a good box art? Favourite examples etc

I'm finishing up FFVII by following MIke's old walkthrough. I know he gave great reasons for never wanting to do another one again, but if any of you had infinite time and resources (and a hard drive that won't crash and lose your saves) to make the canonical walkthrough/guide of a game, which would it be?

What do you think of features in JRPGs such as 3x game speed (FFVII on PS4) or adjusting the random encounter rate (Bravely Default, among others)? Do these aid possible annoyances or do they ruin the experience? FFVII also includes a "God Mode" that takes any challenge out of the game. I think that is going too far, but I do like being able to speed through random encounters or turn them off.
