Ah, that makes sense. I was thinking that the fact that this was coming along with DLC rather than long after it all might have been the big difference, but your explanation feels like it's probably a bigger component of it.

Remember to upload the podcast to iTunes!!

No worries

I don't really know anything about Atari and haven't followed this console. I'm not informed enough to talk about it.

Resonant Arc

I've been trying to not ask FF questions cause you all asked, but I'm 0 and 4 haha.. I'll go back to FF questions next week.

Hat

Oh man, this is such a gold mine topic though. I could talk for 45 minutes on why this is such a bad idea for Atari, which faced bankruptcy in 2011. DreamcastGuy has made like 5 videos about it. I would sell all stock if I had any in Atari.\

Hat

Can't speak for Landon and Casen, but personally I'm playing God of War, Tales of Bersaria, The Alliance Alive, Radiant Historia, Chrono Cross, and Deus Ex. -Mike

Answering here because I don't think there would be much variance in our opinions to discuss. Like you, we have zero interest, haha. Looks like a bad deal.

Resonant Arc

Casen is a big fan of Paper Mario! He did a review on the 64 game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lxy1-8ZXUo Pretty sure that's his favorite one, but he also really likes TTYD. I (Mike) haven't played any Paper Mario games.

Resonant Arc

I suppose the possibility exists, but I think it is highly unlikely with how solid Atlus is. Sega probably wouldn't want to give it up.

Resonant Arc

It would be REALLY nice if they released XC1 as an HD remaster on the Switch. I think it makes sense to do so considering the success of XC2. I definitely wouldn't count it out.

Resonant Arc

Basically what Hat said. FF15 disappointed a lot of people because it felt like (and was) a rushed product. The people who supported on day 1, who made all this continued development possible, are the ones who have to pay more. Kinda leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

What's the most obscure game you can think of that you really wish had a sequel? I'm mostly posing this question because I wanted an excuse to bring up Mischief Makers. Not only is it super fun and challenging, its unique and Marina would be absolutely perfect for Smash Bros.

I don't think I'd spend $10.00 on this much less $199, and I can already play Asteroids in a dozen places already.

The Atari VCS (new console) is officially accepting pre-orders on May 30th of this month. The console appears to offer some cool features like running on a Linux system, a 4k resolution, expandable storage and a line-up of classic Atari games at launch with the promise of modern games later in the year for $199...I have ZERO interest in this. Somehow, Asteroids in 4k doesn't sound exciting at all. What would it take for you to actually be interested or excited for this console? Here is an article talking about the features etc... https://www.forbes.com/sites/marcochiappetta/2018/04/30/the-ataribox-gets-real-atari-vcs-pre-order-sales-go-live-next-month/#60920c4a64f0

The Royal Edition literally changed the canon ending of the game, like the last hour and a half of the game is changed, then Square put it behind a pay wall. I don't think it is quite fair to really say that fans were being hypocrites by complaining about the Royal Edition, but not complaining about other games such as the Elder's Scrolls series. Good question though.

Hey Guys, Discovered y’all’s channel about half a year ago, and became a patron about a month ago. Really enjoy the videos and the podcasts that y’all do. My question is about your opinion on the Paper Mario series, more specifically the first one and The Thousand Year Door. TTYD is my favorite game of all time, partly due to nostalgia but just as much because of its funny and compelling story, it’s simple but fun battles system, and the creativity of the paper world. Would love to hear y’all’s thoughts. Keep up the great work.

What video games are you guys playing right now, and why should it be golden sun? (I kid, that part is just to get people to vote golden sun as the next game mike plays). Im currently playing radiant historia and tales of beseria myself

Sega has some amazing titles in fact they own Altus some of my favorite games ever have been published by Atlus. Do you guys think Nintendo could ever buy Atlus?

I've never played any of the Xeno games but I've heard many great things about them. With that being said I really want to play Xenoblade Chronicles 1. Now that the Switch is out I I wonder if Nintendo will ever release an HD port of the game. What do you guys think?

What are your opinions on company's openly supporting mods of their games? What about company's that are very much against mods? Obviously Bethesda is a known supporter of mods and Square Enix is very close to allowing mod support for FFXV, however notable companies like Rockstar have been seen pushing back against mod support. Do you think it's a good/bad thing to support mods? Do you think the pros outweigh the cons or vice versa? Sorry if this has been asked before.

Are there any specific gameplay mechanics which you've only seen used in a couple of games, but you wish would have become more common today? For example, Earthbound's "Instant Win" mechanic, whereby if you're a significantly higher level than an enemy, when you encounter them on the field, you instantly win the fight and gain the spoils/exp without needing to enter the battle screen. This seems like it would have been particularly helpful in the PS1/PS2 eras, in which many JRPGs were plagued with long loading screens when entering battles. I've only ever seen it used since in Blue Dragon. It may be in some other games, but I can't recall seeing it very many times, and it was very much appreciated in Earthbound.

Square Enix got a lot of pushback when it announced the Royal Edition of Final Fantasy XV, with a lot of fans who'd bought the game and all DLC up to that point mad that what they'd have to pay nearly $100 total to get what new buyers were getting for $40. "Game of the year" editions which include all DLC for a cheaper price are nothing new though, and they rarely get people mad. What do you think was different about this case that caused it go over so poorly?
