What do you want us to talk about on the podcast tomorrow?

Thanks for replying haha, and yeah I wasn't too sure if you guys have talked about this before since I've recently started watching. Completely agree though, I would also like if they stayed with the open world and locked away some areas "artificially". Sometimes while playing the game, while I did go to all the places I wanted to go, it was hard to balance exactly where I wanted to go first haha.

Well, there's always topical stuff happening that's easy to just give some thoughts on or structure a skit around (like we did on our filmmaking channel), but for this channel there's really just an endless supply of material. I really like talking about storytelling and there are hundreds of topics to pull from there, and then there are thousands of games I've not played so there's even more to pull from there. When it comes to podcast topics, this is a big part of the reason why we ask you guys to suggest topics so that we can continue to have 6-7 interesting things to discuss on a weekly basis. -Mike

Conceptually the Citadel from Mass Effect, but actually exploring that place was a huge pain. So my answer would be Beauclaire from the Witcher 3 expansion Blood and Wine. Absolutely beautifully realized city.

I have no hope whatsoever to see FF7 this year, haha. I'd like to see more on Ghost of Tsushima personally. -Mike

I'll try to give you the major ones, even if there's like 300 total haha. Games To Start: -The Banner Saga -Furi -Darkest Dungeon -Baulder's Gate II -Stardew Valley -Shogun 2 -Jade Empire -Monster Hunter World Games To Finish: -God of War (2018) -Bloodborne -Dark Souls 3 -Odin Sphere -Owlboy -Shadow of the Colossus Remake That's probably a pretty good list off the top of my head. -Mike

This is a great question! I didn't select it for today because we've talked about it a few times on the podcast before, but essentially we think they should stick with the same engine and probably art style and make another game quick (kinda like they did with Majora's Mask which used a lot of assets from Ocarina of Time). Since BotW was a true open world, meaning you could literally go anywhere you wanted right from the very beginning, they had to give you all the tools you needed right at the start and used the weapon degradation system as a means to balance the game's difficulty (so that you don't run straight to the strongest weapon in the game and just wipe the floor with every enemy). I'd personally like to see the same open design of the world, but with restrictions on where you can go so that they can bring back a sense of progression with equipment (you need item x to access x area and so forth). I also think that will help them tell a stronger story. -Mike

What are you guys hoping to see at Gamescom this year? Try to go as long as you can without saying the FF7 remake.

Which games or which type of games have really addicting gameplay loops that keep you coming back.

Here's a relatively simple one: What's in your Non-Jrpg backlog?

I’m not sure if this one’s been asked before, but... let’s say you have the opportunity to make your dream FF character line-ups & you get to put these characters into any FF storylines of your choice... (I.e: your 8 characters living through the story line of FF6) You get a maximum of 8 characters in your party. Who would you pick? Why? And what story from the FF series would you base these characters in? Hope that makes sense! πŸ‘πŸΌ

Where could the Zelda series go after the huge success of BOTW? The game is set in an open world and as discussed before, has gone away with many traditional tropes of Zelda games. Could making another open world Zelda years down the line not have the same awe that BOTW gave? If they go back to the traditional Zelda game design, would the fans they gained through BOTW remain?

OK, here is a silly one. You have been given a grant of $25 million by the U.S. Government to create a new national park in Utah. After much deliberation you have decided to create a β€œmount Rushmore of storytellers” to honor the greatest or most influential people in modern storytelling. (Or maybe just your favorites xD) Which 4 faces would you carve into that mountain and why? (Feel free to ignore the silly premise and just talk about your favorite storytellers in film, literature, gaming, etc.)

What's your favorite city design in a video game?

You all have been making YouTube videos in a variety of different genres for a very long time now. How do you still come up with fresh new ideas for videos, aside from reviews? Is it ever a struggle choosing a topic?
