As a musician who has been in a handful of different MetaL/Rock bands, I’ve found that it acts as both the narrow view of the “go home and do your homework” aspect of bettering one’s personal goals and then balance’s with the social wider view of meeting up as a band and rehearsing/performing all the homework you did as individuals. On exclusive podcast 13 or 14 I believe, you were discussing the ideas of opposites attracting and people subconsciously connecting with those who are good at what they suck at for that life balance. All the bands I’ve been in fell apart because the others weren’t willing to do their homework and eventually I decided to dive deeper and deeper into the narrow view and learn how to do it all myself (in terms of learning more instruments and how to program/record music in a self built one man studio). I wanted to point out along with your examples of bible study and book clubs that being in a band and discussing and applying what you learned from doing your homework (or banding as I’ve always referred to it as) fits into that personal/social balance as well. Sorry for the long context, but my question is what is your experience with music as far as playing/learning it yourself (if so do you still play?) and was there a clear moment or artist that first made you really recognize and appreciate the value of music?

Extremely late question. Like, inappropriately late question, but I thought I would ask Casen anyway. In Final Fantasy Tactics there is a side quest to get a secret character named Beowulf. The beginning of this quest line starts with Ramza ordering Milk from a bar. I was wondering if the Japanese translation for this scene was the same, or if this was a weird localization.

Hail, gentlemen. Lately, I’ve been very disenfranchised with many of my favorite franchises such as Star Wars, Star Trek, comic books, Doctor Who, etc. So I decided to create my own stories. Do you have any advice for aspiring writers or novelists regarding the process of world-building, character creation & growth, and good storytelling?

Since a lot of your guys' most treasured games seem to come out of the 90s, I'd be very interested in hearing your accounts/memories of the 90s from you guys. Like: what was the general feeling like for you, how were people's general outlook on things, what was the general headspace, how people seemed to treat each other differently. I found it to be the era of a perfect ratio of cutting edge tech, with a good amount of human physical interaction.

I'm a new patreon and I noticed that the podcast is very much focused on jrpgs (with some wrpg sprinkled in). Do you and Casen plan on doing more with wrpgs? (games like baldur's gate, planescape torment etc)

Hey guys! You've made two superb videos of Dragon Quest 11 and Bravely Default 2. I played both of them, and they made a huge impression on me gameplay and story wise. Dragon Quest 11 was quite a slow burner, but it had some reversal of expectations while still feeling like a fairy tale. It also handled the themes of believing and sacrifices really gracefully. Bravely Default 2 after the prologue felt like a thrill ride, which was very exciting, but what blow me away is that it implemented gameplay mechanics (even with some 4th wall breaking) in its narrative really well. Did you play these games since you made the videos, and if you did, what are your opinions? Really enjoying the podcast, wishing the best for you both!
