I have mixed feelings about this movies theme of "god is going to spank you" for doing this mentality. People were against digging up corpses to study human anatomy because some invisible thing said no. We now know this was silly and held us back. This movie was more believable when I was a kid, I know too much about science now and have trouble suspending my disbelief. However this is a movie that blew my mother and myself away in the theater when I was a child. Had I done it my way I would have used another moral angle other than "sky guy says bad." Maybe they should have invited a bunch of gods to see what they though about the island. Ya know I changed my mind. This movie is annoying and rooted in superstitious fear. Malcolm is really annoying and wants to remain idle. We would not have most of the worlds scientific achievements if we had this guy crying about "but what about god????" "Did you ask gooooddddddd if it was ok????" I'd have sent him home.

Speaking of the unforseen chaos: In regards to the line from Ian Malcolm:"Don't you mean exctinct?" Is a statement uttered from Phil Tippet, the original dinosaur artist. From the inception of the film, it was supposed to be stop motion with Phil at the helm. However, ILM had an artist named Steve "Spaz" Williams, whom developed the C.G.I modell of the T.Rex, and ambushed Kathleen Kennedy and Steven Spielberg in corridor without the ILM supervisors permission, and then and there they decided to go with CG instead of stop motion, then Phil Tipped said he was extinct and Spielberg added the line into the film. So the production mirrored the theme of the film in a sense. There is a good documentary out called "Jurrasic Punk" that walks you through the history of the production from Steves perspective that is very good IMO.

These episodes have been great. Love all the details you've spotted in the analysis. I also like you mentioning that the book has a much different plot and different versions of the characters. But it just goes to show that if you maintain the core theme of the story, you can still do it justice even if you want to make big changes to tell the story in a different medium. With modern remakes/adaptions it seems like fans have now been trained to just accept any changes to the story as long as the writers keep their favorite characters/plot beats more or less the same. But the writers of these remakes don't realize that the story/franchise they're tasked with "reimagining" only has such an impact on the culture/fanbase because of the story's core thematic message. That's what actually gives these popular the stories their long lasting appeal. So if you keep the theme intact you can make significant changes to other aspects and still have a huge hit for both the original and new audience. Jurassic Park and Lord of the Rings are proof of this.
