Hello guys!
Attached is the file for the "You Made It" illustration, as well as the "Tea" demo from last week. At the top, you'll find the process video link for "You Made It," and here is the one for "Tea." https://youtu.be/tQmf-G6o39U
I've been exploring a more colorful approach to enhance certain feelings. Although I've always been very focused on shapes and drawings, I believe it's fair to push myself into different areas. Here's what you will find in both processes:
Tea: This involved rendering water in a customized shape, a concept divided into three elements: water, dog, and tea. During this process, I prioritized shaping the dog according to how water should define the silhouette. The challenge lay in using values and colors to resemble light reflected through the water. Initially, I thought it would be easy, but it was not, especially in determining how highlights should reflect the proper shape of the water and how colors can easily be misinterpreted as "honey". I had to use more than one reference to fully understand the real texture.
Sunset: This approach was heavily focused on a fisheye perspective, from which I could deliver as much information as possible. The composition aimed to highlight the sunset in a secondary way through the window of the car and the eyes of the girl. A secondary point of interest is the French horn and a hint of the medal she won during the band competition. It's not immediately evident, but the values and colors are arranged in a way that guides the viewer's eye around the overall composition and towards the main idea. The colors emphasize that warm moment of realization and relatability, always trying to put the viewer in this position as much as I can. I recommend taking a closer look at the drawing process in the video if perspective interests you, and checking the PSD to see the layer treatment that evokes this warm palette feeling.
