Hi, I'm from Peru. I saw your reactions on YouTube and decided to subscribe. I wanted to ask: Does the video for the series look blurry on all subscription plans? It's a bit discouraging. Thanks.

Juan Romero B.

I hated the finale when I was younger, but as I got older, I loved it.

Big Time Knights

I love Xena. I have her show tied with Buffyverse. That would be a great reaction as well.

Big Time Knights

It's been a great ride. Buffyverse complete! On a side note, I wish Fred's soul was not destroyed and that she could've found some way to heaven. Also, continue this 90s nostalgic trend with Xenaverse, or at least put her show on a poll.

Big Time Knights

We are finally here, the end of the ride, Wooooo! Thank you so much for choosing the buffyverse and continuing with angel, it was a bumpy road, but we are here now, for one of the better finale endings ever, well depends on who you talk too, but for me and Angel... the fight (story) always keeps going on... but not the budget. lol.... Also wanted to add my favorite moment in the whole show is when Spike gets to read his poem for cecily and gets a standing ovation. Really a full circle moment... and with Anne and Gunn, anne being all the way from Buffy. season 3, and lest not forget the two originals from the pilot: (Angel and Harmony; real OGs)

Ricardo Obregon

I had never ever heard the theory of Lorne intentionally wanting to unalive someone lmao, never ever crossed my mind.

Gabriel Gerardo Goopar

The character of Anne (the women that runs the teen shelter that Gunn helps load the truck) is someone that we followed since season 2 of Buffy. She's in Seasons 2 and 3 of Buffy and Seasons 2 and 5 of Angel. She started off in the Buffy episode Lie to Me as Chanterelle, a women who was in a cult that worshiped Vampires, She was in the Buffy season 3 premiere where Buffy was in LA using the name Lily, and then at the end of that episode she took the name Anne because it was Buffy's middle name.

Ray D

It doesn't matter if they win this fight at the end of the episode or if they all died. The point was that they fought. Angel said it in this episode and he learned it from Holland Manners in season 2 when he took that elevator ride with him and he hit his rock bottom there is no "winning" this fight against evil. Evil will always exist in some form or another but if you fight the good fight for as long as possible and help the helpless that's the important part. Angel's (and the shows) moto has been "If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do". And they chose to fight. Let's go to work!

Ray D

I don't consider this the end; the comic books are canon. You should read them Xena the warrior princess first appeared in Hercules.

The Answer

Maaan the Buffy verse journey has been crazy. I'm sad it's over and I miss all these characters again already. I love this finale honestly, it one of my favorites, especially the last five minutes where there's just so much tension and like this grandiose overwhelming feeling, just to have angel swing his sword and it immediately cut to the credits. It's so satisfying and you really don't need to see the battle. Also Harmonys betrayal lol, peak comedy. Thanks for the reactions, guys.

#Sunday Rundown. This is a perfect finale in my opinion, and it fits the theme of the show, to keep fighting the good fight. You can never truly beat evil, all you can do is fight it. "If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do". R.I.P Wesley, from bumbling fool to a legit badass, my favourite character in the entire buffyverse. Even though technically it was Illyria, I do love that Wes and Fred both died in each others arms.

Dannielle

Read the comics if you get the chance because they are cannon.

Jason M

Goodbye Buffy and Angel and if the group watches the movie, please remember that there's an animated pilot that brings back the cast which is cool and the original pilot which has a different Willow. Both are only 20 mins long and are fun watches, the group will not be disappointed.

NICK Luna

Read the comics 😁

Jason M

Man what a ride been doing these rewatches with you since buffy season 2 started

Rey R

Im watching the Angel edited reactions, but I just wanted to chime in and say I'm so glad that you guys watched these two shows. They both hold a very special place in my heart and shaped my viewpoints on the world. Rumour has it that the new buffy series is close to having a pilot on Hulu, would be hella cool to watch some new shows along with you guys. <3

Trent_88

I was....13 when the finale came out I think? I hated the ending but loved the episode. Now? I love it, its PERFECT for angel

Brendan Masker

I think a third spin off could be interesting. There's a lot more story to tell about the potentials all being slayers if we ignore the comics (and we should, they are garbo)

#SundayRundown Sorry for the triple posts 😭 But yeah Suraj is right. The scene heavily implies that they die because the ultimate statement was that the fight never ends. They knew that was going to be the final shot and Whedon always wanted to end the show like this even if the show naturally ended. He cut it off in the middle of the fight because that was the best way to show that the outcome didn’t matter. The fact that all of the characters decided to fight was the important part. They’re all facing down an army of demons and a dragon, yet they fight anyway. Buffy ended with all of the characters overcoming evil in the bright light of day, filled with promise. Angel ended with all of the characters facing evil, with no hope of victory or reward in a rain-soaked alleyway in the dead of night. Both shows are encapsulated in their endings. Buffy ends with the promise of self-discovery: “What do we do now, Buffy?” to which Buffy smiles. Angel ends with the understanding that Angel will always be fighting. Even if he won, his fight for redemption would never be over. Angel: “Let’s go to work.”

#SundayRundown Sorry for the double posts 😅. Don’t feel obliged to read my posts if they’re too long. Just adding conversation. So Whedon wanted Angel to sign away his claim to the Shanshu Prophecy. He wanted to pay off all the talk about doing good without the promise of a reward. The act of Angel signing away the one thing that he wanted was the ultimate statement about doing good for good’s sake. Angel no longer has a chance of being human, yet he is fighting anyway. Nothing to gain, so that means he is only motivated to fight the good fight. Looove that. And it was such a great idea to have all the characters spend their last moments doing the thing they love the most. They all reveal the core of the characters. The scene between Anne and Gunn was the mission statement and exactly what Gunn needed after his personal Wolfram & Hart journey. We see him fully embrace Gunn again by wielding his Hubcap Axe and even using Angel’s Assassin’s Creed Stakes. Spike’s scene was heartwarming. As you know William was an aspiring poet in life. His names “William the Bloody” and “Spike” came from his poetry being so bad that it was like a driving a railroad spike through people’s heads. That same poem is the one he was writing for Cecily (Halfrek, Anya’s friend) where he was laughed out of the room. Now he’s being applauded. Brilliant ending for him. Wesley’s ending was perfect. Loved that he essentially returned to the Watcher/Slayer dynamic with Illyria being his new Slayer. Wesley putting up such a front to reject the lie of Illyria being Fred only to accept the lie moments before death was so heartwarming. He was trained as a Watcher to squarely delineate between reality and fiction. He retreats back into his training in order to save face. But all of that immediately drops when he’s dying and wants comfort. It was so beautiful 😭 Such a tragically beautiful ending for Wesley’s character.

#SundayRundown Here's some things Joss has said about the show since it ended. The final scene in the alley was always going to be the final scene no matter if they got 6, 8, even 10 seasons. Angel was always going to end up in that Alley and it was always going to end with him fighting because the fight never ends for him. Alexis Denisof was asked what he wanted out of Wesley's character in the finale, and he asked to be killed off because thought it would be a fitting ending for the character. Some season 6 storylines we missed out on had the show not been canceled. One was Oz returning the help Angel's girlfriend deal with being a ware wolf. They were considering a way to split Fred and Illyria and Amy Acker would have played duel roles. Lastly The Circle of The Black Thorn would have been a season long arc. Thank you for reacting to my favorite show of all time!!!

Joe Traupman

#SundayRundown The Lindsey content was actually filmed a month before the finale. Christian Kane had to fly to another country to film a movie hours after his scenes were shot. This is why Whedon wrote all of those scenes in like a day in order to shoot it as quickly as possible. What’s interesting is that Whedon always wanted Lindsey to die. He wanted Lindsey to represent the kind of evil where it isn’t mustache-twirling or some grand big bad. It was the kind of evil where people get lost in the gray areas so much that they forget where the line between black and white is. They get complacent and start making compromises with evil and rationalizing their actions. Exactly what the Fang Gang were doing this season. Like Lorne said, Lindsey was never part of the solution, and Whedon wanted him dead to make the statement that as long as you’re alive you have to resist evil. You can’t compromise with it in some self-serving attempt to get ahead.

Ren Davis

TV’s best finale. (Honorable mentions to TNG and Six Feet Under)

John M.

No, it was not Lorne's decision - he said he'd do one last thing for Angel which was to kill Lindsey. He knew Lindsey was an evil and self-serving man, but he's not a violent guy. He did what he was told, and he was done.

Scott

There was never going to be a season six. The show was officially canceled when the puppet episode aired.

Jeffrey Conway

Thanks Suraj, Rana, Spidey and last but not least Pat for watching both Angel and Buffy shows from start to finish. Y’all are the true Normies in my book. 😊 It’s been a blast!

Alison

Can't believe it's over!! What a ride. The main reason (not the only one) for my Patreon subsciption was the Buffyverse since 2022. Thanks for all the reactions 😊 What a finale!

Chris K.

My favorite fan theory is that this finale is happening in tandem with The Cabin in the Woods. Like the Wolfram and Hart offices are the upper floors of the same building as The Organization from the movie. Fred didn't die, she got transferred to the Chemistry department "Downstairs" working directly for the 'Senior Partners' or 'Old Gods'. Also, Suraj, Joss Whedon said, had Firefly not been cancelled, Spike was set to have a cameo at some random space cantina. The scene was Spike, sitting alone, sad, and drunk. Rambling on about "Nothing ever changes..."

Kim

thanks man never see that.

#sunday rundown 2.23 Flash fans - we are here Spidey! 67:35 Yes there was Angel Magazine monthly :)

OK so here we are. Most important point Andy Hallett (Lorne) passed away a few years after the finale, cancer RIP. In the reunion recently the cast leaves this space in all the cast shots for Andy as if he was there. A few more things Angel absolutely knew about the plan to kill Lindsay it was his plan, thats why Lorne said he's out after this. Of course Lornes last day is singing a song. Spikes Poem in his last day is the same one he was very awkwardly trying to say way back before he was turned. Now he can deliver it properly, also his next poem is called "The Wanton Folly of Me Mum" which I mean if you remember what happened with his mum and all... Anne the girl Gunn goes to see, she is the longest running recurring character in Buffy and Angel she was in Buffy season 2 "lie to me" going by chantrelle part of a vampire cult, then in season 3 of buffy she is going by Lily. While buffy is in LA s3 after killing angel, lily decides to change her name to Anne the name Buffy is going by, Buffys middle name btw. Then of course she is in angel episodes running a care center for the homeless. From this point on she stays with the name Anne. I really like conner and angel having a final fight that is for once entirely on the same side no tricks just dad and son fighting the good fight. The most heartbreaking moment imo is Illyria and Wes "lie to me", Wesley knows he's gone and for once just wants a moment of comfort. Sure there is "after the fall" comics which is all about LA being drawn into a hell dimension for what Angel and CO did but this finale is perfect yes they all died standing up to ultimate evil. Finally yes when making this episode they absolutely knew this was it, and there is no other way it could be done, the team goes out kicking the big bad aka (wolf ram and hart) in the balls and then they charge the horde of demons, how else could you do it.

RIP to Andy Hallett, who passed away at the too-young age of 33 just a few years after the Angel series finale aired. Here's Andy at the 2005 Slayerfest in England, beautifully radiating his trademark charm and humor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5VsyofHXyM

Your reaction to the homie's final moments did not disappoint. Thanks for all the Buffyverse reactions, it's been awesome. See you all in a few years for the reboot!

Kwigz-kun

I can't believe we're here. The end of the Buffyverse. Imma cry

Calvin Allen

See, this is why the Buffy reboot/sequel is a horrible idea. This ended perfectly and by having any inkling of what happened, the ambiguity of this ending will be totally ruined. I don't understand people's insistence on tying everything up with a nice, neat bow. It's like that horror genre rule where the monster is far less scary once you see it. Or a magician's trick being far less cool once they explain how it's done. This needed to stay open ended just like this. Anyway, ima hop off my soap box 😅

Smash Bran'Discootch

Remember when Wesley started out in Angel as a "Rogue Demon Hunter"? Or the C-3PO-like Watcher from the Council in Buffy? :'(

#SundayRundown I think Anne is the most heartwarming story in the Buffyverse. The first time we meet Anne in Buffy Season 2 "Lie to Me" she's going by the name Chanterelle & she's part of a cult that worships vampires. A few months later Buffy runs into her again in Season 3 "Anne", she's now going by the name Lily. It's revealed that she's had many names before this with other cults. At the end of the episode she adopts the name Anne from Buffy & is looking to make a fresh start. In Angel Season 2 "Blood Money" Anne returns & is now successfully running a charity shelter for at-risk teens. The final time we see her is at the end of the Buffyverse, Angel "Not Fade Away". Her charity is still going strong. Gunn is feeling the weight of the upcoming fight. He gets philosophical with Anne & questions if what she's doing even matters. She completely brushes off the question. Anne is undeterred & focused on helping others the best way she can. I know she's only in a handful of episodes but the amount of character growth is remarkable. Going from someone so lost to where we leave her at the end of the Buffyverse. It's such a lovely character arc.

#SundayRundown I initially wasn't happy with this ending but I've come to realize it's an all-timer. The cut away at the end makes perfect sense thematically considering everything Angel laid out in the previous episode about the Senior Partners always being there even long after they're gone. It also ties back into what he said in 2X16: "If nothing we do matters...then all that matters is what we do." That's really the core message of the series. Angel knows he can never fully atone for what he did as Angelus. That's why The Shanshu Prophecy seems like such a pipedream. He doesn't believe he'll ever deserve that redemption, that reward. There's a lot of jokes throughout the series at the expense of Angel's brooding. He is genuinely tormented though by his past. His soul gives him humanity but doesn't ease his burdens, it increases them. It doesn't prevent him from making wrong choices either. He let himself become corrupted to save Connor. Angel knew it was a devil's bargain going in but didn't think he'd become so worn down by attrition. All season long they've been chipping away at him bit by bit. Having seen the physical & mental toll that its taken on him, it makes that much more satisfying when we find out about Angel receiving his vision. It helps him remember who he is & what he can do. He can act, he can fight, he can help the helpless. The fight will never end but that doesn't matter as long as you keep fighting.
