It's almost always thrown around as a goliardic joke, tho.

As for Big Puss, he is only ratting in the first place to take care of his family. He could have fled. They genuinely care for their families. Also, you got the wrong idea. Tony and Carmella have relations way more often than once a year. What she said he does once a year is going down on her, and that might have even been an exaggeration.

We have the biggest japonese comunity outside Japan, the biggest black population outside Africa, one of the biggest Italian comunity outside Italy, one of the biggest German outside germany, and the list goes on and on... we are just a mix of everything and thats the coolest thing IMO. So yeah, ANYONE of you guys could come live here and no one would really say "you dont look like you belong here" cause everyone can be a brazilian.

Camorra - the neapolitan mafia - has had a number of powerful woman bosses in it's history. It tends to be less formal and structured than other prominen mafia groups and is therefore more "modern" and "egalitarian". Women have had important roles and leadership positions in other mafias, but only in the camorra have they been equivalent or superior to men as bosses. Annalisa's character most likely takes inspiration from two historical bosses, Erminia Giuliano and Maria Licciardi, the latter being one the most powerful bosses and still active in recent years.
