2025-10-03 23:06:40 +0000 UTCGlenn Howerton did leave the show. Season 13 he is only some episodes and he doesn't write any of season 13. People who even watch the series don't realize but Season 13 is sort of shown out of order. But they did a good job editing to make it look like it flows. Though that why season 13 and 14 are really hated on. With the looming writer's strike as well which impacted them the most since they are writers, actors and producers on the show. I think there is like a two year hiatus after season 12 ended. Because they all had a bunch of other stuff like Olson was all over ABC shows. Pick up an Emmy nomination. Rob had his soccer team show and game designing show. Day and DeVitto churned out a bunch of Disney movie work. And Howerton had a pilot on Peacock. Oh and yes Mac wears bike shorts with an open flap in the back as Charlie pointed out during the arbitration when Mac was still denying he was gay.

In the meantime, Glenn Howerton got his own show on NBC (AP Bio, which is also great and deserves a watch.) So for fans, we really had no idea if he had really left or not, and the cast was evasive about it in interviews. It really was 18 months of uncertainty before the question was answered.
