Godot Code Contributors Guide [preview]

The next video will be all about you can contribute code to Godot.

Ever had an annoying bug you wanted to fix?
A new quality of life change you wanted to add?

It is easier than you might think to work with Godot's code. And even with fairly basic understanding of C++ you can get your way around fixing things.

The first part is up: https://youtu.be/LeUDvHS9vtQ
The second part is up: https://youtu.be/HEOt79up5LE

Compiling and setup your dev environment

The first part will be all about how to setup your dev environment and compiling Godot on your computer. And some common bugs or problems you might face.

We'll also see how the workflow on getting your code put inside Godot works.
At the end, you'll have a good understanding on how Godot manage's their project and what to expect when submitting your code to them.

Making our very own quality of life improvement

On the second part, we'll be adding a a new quality of life improvement.

I'll show all the steps I took to write the code, how I found where I needed to make changes, hints, some very basic git knowledge to push our code.

And later on, we'll see how to solve some unexpected bugs I received based on code reviews the pull request received.

The feature itself will probably not enter Godot for a long time.
Godot just entered BETA, so no more new features until the next version.

Unfortunate timing, but I still think making this video will be useful, so when the next version starts, you can also make your changes to Godot.
