Jalapeño Popper Roulette

To accompany our first Fortunate Horse stream with Rude Tales of Magic and Fun City, I thought it would be fun to have a snack ready everyone who will be watching. Since Among Us is about sabotage, play along with us at home and eat a popper for every dead body discovered. But whaaat, one of the jalapeno poppers is spiked with extra hurt? Jalapeño Poppers Among Us

Substitute Tofutti and omit the cheese if you’re vegan. If you’d like to make this a dinner-sized dish, it will also work for four poblano peppers (but not as spicy).

6 jalapeño peppers

1 cup shredded cheese

4 ounces cream cheese

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon cayenne or chipotle pepper

5 tablespoons bread crumbs

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1 egg, beaten

Sour cream for dipping

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Wear gloves if you’ve got them! Remove the stem ends of each pepper.
Split the jalapeño peppers in half, lengthwise.
Use a spoon to scoop out the pith and seeds, set a teaspoon worth of seeds aside in a ramekin.
In a mixing bowl, mix the shredded cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, and salt.
Add a spoonful of cheese mixture to each pepper half.
Time for sabotage! When you get to the last 1 or 2 pepper halves, add the cayenne pepper and jalapeño seeds to the cheese mixture and stir. Stuff the last peppers.
Carefully dip each jalapeño half in the egg and roll in breadcrumbs.
Lay the peppers green-side down on a baking sheet.
Drizzle a little butter over the top of each pepper.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and transfer to a plate with tongs.
Serve with sour cream dip!
