Talkin' About The Bachelor and Bachelorette with Joe & Tim

Will you accept this...podcast?????

Joe and Tim talk about their history with the Bachelor franchise, their thoughts on the current season, and their hopes for the future. A perfect primer for those who have never touched the series while still giving the "caught up" plenty of hot takes on Clare, Tayshia, and the most heartfelt Noah vs. Bennett take in audio.

Super late to this rose ceremony but cannot express how pleased I am to find this incredibly specific overlap of two of my absolute favorite interests. Thank you for the thoughtful breakdown of Ben on Tayshia’s season and expressing what is so compelling about the show—watching a narrative being actively shaped and pushed before our very eyes! Rachel and Peter's breakup is one of the GOATS for sure!

I loved it! No clue what you're talking about but I enjoyed hearing the takes and the reasoning behind them

I've never seen an episode of the Bachelor and I really enjoyed the episode. Also greatly anticipating the brackish water ep 💦💦💦

Soooo any chance we get a Talkin’ About to recap Season 16 and that finale?

Idk if there's a channel about Talkin' Bout but... As somebody who put legitimate effort into disregarding The Bachelor/ette prior to moving in with my girlfriend, and who has now watched most of 6 different season and 2 of Paradise this shit RESONATED WITH ME. There is so much to break down here. 1) The people who go on this show are fucking insane, no matter what the reason. The disingenuous ones are insane for thinking they will get away with it. The legitimately looking for love contestants are insane for thinking this process is the best way to do that. The "I just want the experience" ones are insane for not anticipating their inevitable and tearful confession that "they didn't think it was gonna be this hard!" All of them.... INSANE. 2) The abysmal success rate of Bachelor/ette couples (which is, astoundingly, managing to decline over time) somehow hasn't destroyed this show despite ~40 combined seasons and only ~10 total "successful" couples. Millions of people tune in KNOWING that the relationships are doomed, KNOWING these individuals are basically signing up for psychological and emotional torture in the name of entertainment, and KNOWING that we are being given only carefully selected pieces of an immensely complicated competition. And they (I am ashamed to admit... we) continue to tune in because this ambiguous is incredibly effective at unveiling some of the most relatable themes of the human condition... love, connection, fidelity/infidelity. This is the coca-cola formula of shows: an incredible, irreplicable, fortunate accident. 3) How the hell did you guys not talk about Chris Harrison?! He has to be one of the most interesting people alive right now. The shit he has seen, the unwavering solidity and candor with which he stewards a nation through that same shit, and the nuance with which he connects with these pathological (and often inebriated) twenty-somethings is wild. Who is this guy, where did he come from? How did he learn to ask questions like "how did you feel watching that guy dump you for that other girl you lived with for 6 months" while making the person in question FEEL LIKE HE IS THEIR FRIEND AND CONFIDANT? I'm endlessly fascinated by Chris Harrison and often wonder if he was really the titular "Bachelor" all along...?

It’s been a couple seasons since I was up to date on the Bachelor/ette (I blame MTV’s “Are You the One” season 8 queer cast on spoiling all other dating programs) but hearing this convo was an absolute balm. Sincere thanks to Tim and Joe — this was such a considerate / charming conversation. Top notch Patreon content :)

While I am not super into the bachelor, it is even more interesting to hear about passionate people talk about something new to me than it would be to hear someone say stuff I already know.

Morgan Reynolds

I havent watched the bachelor at all but this was a fun listen! My girlfriend loves reality tv, she understood most of what you all were talking about, still fun to listen to, even if I am not well versed in the subject. :)

Michael Nestick

this is the 1st season of the bachelor(ette) i've ever seen due to getting roped in by my roommates, really loved this discussion. still firmly anti-bennet; noah gets points for being an okie

beatrice

This is the bonus content we need

J.M. Timmel

loved this. i’m in a group that regularly does a bachelor/ette draft, all watching together, and in a pandemic we haven’t been able to watch the new content. this gave me everything i needed

Hannah T

Finally some content I can get behind

Leith Ghuloum

I had a similar pathway into the bachelor franchise... My girlfriend and I both enjoyed this a lot and look forward to more if u do more!

I knew nothing about the bachelor before today but I want you guys to know I enjoyed this anyway.

Kodiak

Not getting to shoot the shit about the Bachelor/ette has been one of many low points of this year and this more than made up for it. Absolutely do another one, I never comment on the patreon but for this I absolutely had to make an exception

Mama Hot Tomato

This is amazing 10/10 I was super disappointed when it ended

Skylar Buchan

I may be 1 in 5 people this ep was for, but it was great. Didn’t realize I needed a thoughtful dissection of the Noah/Bennett drama - 10/10 would enjoy more!
