The big downside was that it was kind of dicey re: maneuverability, due to it being wider than a bicycle and also heavier than you'd expect (mine was not foldable, though). So if you gotta stop or swerve, you gonna have a scary time. But it's not like there's any bike infrastructure in America that will ever make you Feel Safe anyway, so YOLO? Get a trike if you wanna I guess? (People rubbernecked it a lot though.)
