2024-09-21 23:17:00 +0000 UTCIn lil Wayne's "Dr. Carter" he's trying to rap people back to health and they keep dying on him* which stands out to me as a rude tales-y kind of gag (*except the last patient)

2024-09-21 17:38:19 +0000 UTCCan't believe I didn't talk about Butthole Surfers. This is the first and last time I will ever issue an apology to listeners.

2024-09-21 17:36:47 +0000 UTCI love this list! It pains me to attempt to defend Frank Zappa but I think Billy the Mountain & Gregory Peccary are legit comedy nerd funny in a way nothing else he did was.

2024-09-21 16:43:38 +0000 UTCLove of all these more recent musical artists (thank you for bringing them to our attention!), but for me the great grandaddy of them all (after Gilbert and Sullivan) of musical humor in non-comedic music will always be Cole Porter, particularly in deadpan songs like "Miss Otis Regrets".

2024-09-20 21:07:33 +0000 UTCSo many great choices. Some of my favorite artists that put comedy into their songs that aren't necessarily novelty songs are Foetus (standouts: Satan Place, Wash It All Off, basically anything from the 80s or 90s) and Butthole Surfers (Hairway to Steven & Locust Abortion Technician all time classic albums).

2024-09-19 21:04:21 +0000 UTCI have looked at the playlist to find myself humiliated. My house honor will never be restored and I apologize for my incompetence.

2024-09-19 20:18:36 +0000 UTCFlight of the Concords song you couldn’t remember is Carol Brown if it hasn’t already been figured out.

2024-09-19 20:01:45 +0000 UTC1. As soon as Hilary Duff was mentioned, I thought for sure you were going to discuss "So Yesterday." It builds up a big dramatic moment in the bridge with all of these declarations - "If you're over me, I'm already over you / If it's all been done, what is left to do?/ How can you hang up if the line is dead?/ If you wanna walk, I'm a step ahead/ If you're moving on, I'm already gone" - all leading up "If the light is off than it isn't onnnnnnn!" 2. Unfortunately I cannot hear any mention of the Enrique song "Hero" without remembering that it was the song playing for my first ever slow dance with a boy, the details of which are important: my elementary school did a "graduation dance" for the 5th graders going into middle school but because this was right after 9/11 the theme was "United We Stand." We all had to wear red, white, and blue and the cafeteria was covered in American flags. Spring 2002 baybee!!

2024-09-19 17:22:55 +0000 UTCOne that always gets me is the energy Ian Anderson brings to the line "SITTING ON A PARK BENCH" in Aqualung by Jethro Tull
