Hurricane Milton
Added 2024-10-13 00:49:00 +0000 UTCI really hate to be doing this, but at this point, I don’t really see another option. As you all know, we had to evacuate Florida due to Hurricane Milton. Unfortunately, we came home this morning to find our power has been out for almost 72 hours and will continue to be out until Monday HOPEFULLY.
I’m not comfortable sharing this next part with people who aren’t patrons, so please keep this amongst yourselves, please. 12 weeks ago yesterday, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and because of the storm knocking out power for so long, all of his frozen breastmilk is gone. I can no longer breastfeed/pump because of the meds I’m on. He is the biggest reason I’m asking for help, as he is now with us with no AC in Florida heat and no milk, as I need to buy goats milk formula that is unfortunately out of stock near me, so I have to order from more expensive resellers.
All of our food is spoiled, grocery stores near us have cleared shelves, we can’t afford a generator as the only ones left that haven’t been bought out are $800+, and we’ve exhausted our spare funds on the evacuation and return. If you can spare even a little to help, it would be greatly appreciated 🩷

[Edit to add that I have reached out to FEMA to apply for assistance, though they generally only deal with property damage relief. I have also reached out to food banks, but was too late to get to them in time because we only just made it back this morning from Louisiana.]

If you have anywhere you can go that has power like family or friends, I would go.
