While Ray is being roasted this episode, Pam calls him "Ironside" . _Ironside_ was 1967-75 TV series with Raymond Burr as the title character, the former San Francisco PD chief of detectives who becomes paraplegic after being shot. He retires and becomes a consulting detective for the SFPD, ably assisted by some young, good-looking police aides who, in keeping with the era, included women as well as his black male caregiver who as the series progressed attended the police academy and became an officer. They drove around in a wheelchair-modified van, just like Krieger, but accompanied by a Quincy Jones jazz score.

Fun fact for the non-military amongst us, when learning how to navigate overland, you first determine how many steps you take per 100 meters on flat land. This is called a pace count, and is critical for land navigation. If you have a coordinate you need to get to on a map, you mark the coordinate of where you are (or first find a landmark or topographical formation to determine the coordinate of where you are), draw an azimuth (angle) on the map to a known point to figure out the length and direction of travel, and use the degrees from a compass and your pace count to navigate from known point to known point. As you get more experienced, you learn how to adjust for terrain, vegetation and elevation. I'm guessing Archer just sort of wings it.
