All of Team JNPR are references to characters from myth and legend that posed as a different gender during wartime: Pyrrha (Achilles) and Thor (Nora) both disguised themselves as women to either avoid fighting in a war or to prevent one and Mulan (Ren) and Joan of Arc (Jaune) both disguised themselves as men to participate in one.
