I think the Cinder backstory came at the right time. If it was earlier it would have humanized her too much, which is what I don't want from a big bad until the stakes are high enough. And to give Cinder some credit, her plans generally work out very well until somebody else fucks them up. First three volumes she was on point, Touchwick messed up the original season 2 attack, which had that ALSO happened in volume three...it would have been GGs for everyone. Season three, Ruby's superpower came out of nowhere to hit her like a ton of bricks after she just beat Ozpin 1v1, then Pyhrra 1v1, arguably the two strongest people in Beacon at the time. Even against Raven she had the drop on her till she didn't realize the switch, then fought Raven (queen of badassery) to a near draw if not for a quick shot in the back. And she was winning the fight for Freya's power until she got owned by a fully powered maiden. That's not a bad record against the best of the best

2021-02-02 22:13:26 +0000 UTCAlternatively with Mantle on your side you could have worked to divert the Grimm river which means the hard light shields stay up and the main force holds back....then the fight is either on the Tundra or over mantle in either case the air fleet holds the high ground and a secure tower from which to attack. If your ground forces deploy there instead of having to defend Atlas they can hold the line while calling on Theodore and Goodwitch to help.
