Material Users Overview
There are various forms of material energy which have been harnessed by different groups and species, each developing unique ways to tap into these powers. Material energies are separated from magical energies and the two can not co-exist in one person. An individual must choose one path to walk down.
Magic is a form of power that originates from within a magical core or matrix and is what generates and stores mana. This form of power allows a user to manipulate the eternal world through incantations, rituals and spellcasting. The strength of a mage is directly tied to the strength of their core and how they develop their connection to their mana.
Material on the other hand comes from a variety of sources.
Life Force: Drawn from the user's own vitality.
Chakra: Internal spiritual power refined through martial arts.
Ki: Energy harnessed from the planet or celestial bodies.
Prana: Essence bound to an external object.
These different sources of energy are inherently tied to the physical and spiritual attunements of the individual users. In order for someone to grow in power they have to follow the specialized applications, training and lifestyle required by these different forms of power.
When an individual chooses to become a material user, they undergo a transformation that severs their connection to their mana core, replacing it with the new source of power. This transformation is irreversible, meaning they permanently lose access to all forms of magic and mana. There has never been someone that has mastered both mana and material because of this absolute limitation.
Life Force Users
Origins and Overview: Life Force was the first and is the most ancient form of material magic, primarily developed by ancient humans. As the foundation of all other material arts, it is the most versatile and well-understood.
Abilities and Characteristics: Life Force users can achieve a wide range of magical effects, from healing and enhancing physical abilities to elemental manipulation and defensive boons. However, they are not as specialized or powerful in any single area compared to other material users.
Philosophy and Practice: The practice of Life Force magic involves understanding and manipulating the essence of life itself. Practitioners must maintain a deep connection with their own vitality and the life around them, often leading them to roles as healers, warriors, and wisemen.
Chakra Users
Origins and Overview: Chakra users focus on harnessing internal spiritual power, refined and directed through martial arts. Each practitioner can master only one elemental power, which aligns with their martial arts style.
Abilities and Characteristics: Chakra users produce powerful elemental effects, such as fire blasts, water shields, earth fortifications, or wind blades. Their abilities are enhanced by their physical strength and fighting spirit, making them formidable in both physical and magical combat.
Philosophy and Practice: Mastery of Chakra requires intense spiritual connection and rigorous martial arts training. Practitioners believe in the harmony of mind, body, and spirit, and their power grows as they refine their martial prowess and spiritual discipline.
Ki Users
Origins and Overview: Ki users draw their power from the energy of the planet and celestial bodies, such as constellations, the sun, and the moon. Their abilities fluctuate with the time of day and celestial alignments.
Abilities and Characteristics: Ki users are most powerful at night when constellations are visible. Depending on the constellation they are attuned to, they can wield various powers like enhanced strength, speed, and psychic abilities. Attuning to the sun or moon grants immense, but fleeting power, often used as a last resort.
Philosophy and Practice: The path of the Ki user involves deep meditation and a profound connection to the cosmos. Practitioners spend their lives studying celestial patterns and learning to harness the planetary energy. They are often seen as shamans, astrologers, and powerful warriors.
Prana Users
Origins and Overview: Prana users bind their essence to an external object, typically a weapon, to control their mystical energy. This bond creates a powerful synergy, allowing them to wield extraordinary abilities.
Abilities and Characteristics: Prana users can recall their bound item, repair it with prana, and enhance it with magical properties. The object becomes an extension of their soul, granting them unique powers linked to the bound item. However, if the item is destroyed, they are unable to use their prana abilities until it is repaired or a new item is bound.
Philosophy and Practice: The binding process is a sacred ritual, deeply personal and mystical. Prana users view their bound item as a part of themselves, and their training focuses on the harmony between their essence and the object. They are seen as warriors and protectors, their bound items symbolizing their strength and dedication.
