Land of the Lustrous - Utilising Negative Space

The new video is here!! This one took a while to render out (maybe the humid weather didn't help my poor PC) but I finally got there!

This video does have spoilers for the manga. Moreso visually as I don't actually talk about the plot at all, funnily enough. This video, much like the Dungeon Meshi and Witch Hat videos, is all about the technique in discussion. This time, about negative space!

Hopefully I've made it easy enough for those who don't know what the technique is, to actually learn something from this video. As it's done superbly in this manga!

At the end of the video I do talk about a little giveaway i'm going to be doing from now, until the next video's release. I'll put out more information about that during the week!

Let me know your thoughts on the video as per usual, and thank you for the love!

Land of the Lustrous - Utilising Negative Space

Haha yeah, but Dungeon Meshi feels even closer to ending. Just a bit more cooking and it should be done... I randomly found the Pseudomorph of Love on my first trip years ago and it is practically the definition of gorgeous. Every trip has been a fun one! I also bought a gift for a friend who also loves the series a set of the HnK/LotL reskinned Love Letter cards (special edition for vol 4). I hope if you can find The Party at the End you enjoy it! I remember finding that someone had translated it all which was pretty nice, don't think it has an official translation yet.

Thank you Matias!!! And I completely get you, Ichikawa is very purposeful when deciding to either let a scene bask in simplicity, or be a beautifully luscious panel. I get the feeling it's coming to an end, but who knows? I thought that about Dungeon Meshi ages ago haha. Keeps you on your feet! Oh, that's brilliant! I own the pseudomorph of love artbook which is gorgeous, so I'll have to look into that special edition volume πŸ‘€ (I hope your Japan trip went well!!!)

Lines In Motion

Loved it! The fact that they were a designer makes a ton of sense given the art. It is very striking composition and usually very simple to read what is happening. Not simple art per-se (some of the scenes are super lavish), but the important information is so easy to grasp. LotL is an incredibly unique series, and I'm still baffled that I can't tell if we're nearing the end or if it's about to spiral into a whole new wild and expansive arc. It's exciting. I also managed to snag the vol 12 special edition while I was in Japan that comes with The Party at the End extra story/artbook/booklet thing. It's wild and worth taking a look at for anyone who hasn't seen it and has read past there. Has interviews with the gems and everything.
