2024 and onwards!

Hey all, I hope everybody had a lovely Christmas and New Years!! This post is going to a bit of a ramble-y one, just to forewarn. I wanted to reflect a little bit on how 2023 went for the channel, and what I'll be doing for future projects.

2023

So in 2023 I made a total of 11 videos, 9 of which are on youtube, and then 2 are patreon-only as they had massive copyright issues. I think this is the first time I've had more than 1 video that's had to be taken down in 1 year, which is pretty upsetting as I loved those videos. That has, however, made me want to be a lot more vigilant in what projects I choose moving forward. 

So far /touch wood/ manga videos seem to be totally fine! The only manga I've known have issues with copyright is Tokyo Ghoul and Dragon Ball, but I don't really intend to cover those tbh. Therefore, I don't really have to worry about manga videos too much, in fact, the mangaka of Fool Night even retweeted my video (still buzzing about that!) 

It's more so films/webtoons/anime/animation that are the buggers. Paramount is a no go (that's who blocked my Scream video) as I know they're strict with ATLA and Spongebob too. I know several anime studios/productions who are a no go, too. So really, it's having to do a bit of research before the project even starts to know if it'll have any copyright issues or not. Fun!

Views wise, the most successful videos were the Dungeon Meshi, Keith Haring, Land of the Lustrous and Fool Night ones - but ofc, views can be arbitrary, so I'd love to know which video(s) *you* guys liked the most.   

Other than that, the growth of the channel was amazing! I started at 54k (i think) and ended with around 93k, which is just under double the amount?! I really enjoyed the videos I worked on this year, and I made even more friends along the way, too. So, overall just a super successful year!

2024

This year I will be starting with Claymore, which I know a lot of people are excited about, and then following with the After God video straight after - which I think could be an underrated gem?

Manga videos are always pretty successful on the channel, they are however, the most time consuming to create, which is why I love to cover a variety of mediums on the channel. I feel like I didn't do that so much last year, 6/11 videos were manga ones. So I want to cover some more anime (like the dungeon meshi anime, that'd be a nice way to link to the manga one). I really want to cover Little Witch Academia, Liz and the Blue Bird & more western animation like Scavengers Reign or Blue Eye Samurai, and FINALLY the Spiderverse series! 

I've put some thumbnails up above (some final, some not) to give an idea of some videos I might make throughout the year - the ones I'm definitely doing are the Medalist, Haikyuu & the book cover videos. Sometimes I'll get a video sporadically pop to mind, too. 

Also, whilst I can't 100% promise, as it hasn't been set in stone yet, a very big creator, who many of you may know, did contact me with interest in me doing some video work for them - which would be wayyyy too big of an opportunity to say no to. So if that does get finalised and becomes a thing, I'll notify you guys on that!

Other than that, this channel wouldn't have hit all the highs it did, and carry on in the way it did either, if it weren't for you guys and your constant support. I hope I can make even more content for you this year that you'll enjoy!
