Video update and change!

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well.

So there's been a little development going on for me in regards to a sponsorship in alignment with WEBTOON, which means I've had to switch my video from Claymore to my video topic surrounding book covers. This video was originally going to release after the Claymore and After God videos anyways, so I've pushed it forward.

The reason behind this is simply because the ad has a deadline that would be way too early and premature for me to complete the Claymore video in, unless I wanted to really overwork myself badly. Given Claymore is the longest manga I've yet to cover, with a whopping 27 volumes, it understandably will take longer than say The Summer Hikaru Died or Fool Night, which were in the single digits for volume count.

That being said, the sponsor is an amazing opportunity, I've been wanting to cover some WEBTOONS in the future but the company are quite strict with copyright issues, so if I get in their good bucks with a sponsor hopefully I can request a video be made in the future! (Given the copyright issue I had with Realta, I see this as justice!!)

The video that will be replacing Claymore (and I'll be back on that series straight after I've finished this video, which hopefully want take long) is covering the topic of the saying "Don't just a book by its cover". Now, as a graphic designer, and as someone who has designed book covers officially, I totally love this topic. It fits in line with art as a topic, and another big hobby of mine - reading!

It's definitely an opinionated and debate-worthy topic, I talked with my two sisters about it yesterday for 2 whole hours, and it makes for a great discussion to be made into a video. So, I hope you're excited for this video nonetheless.

And by all means, I'll ask all of you, too: do you judge a book by its cover?

Hope you're all doing well,

Dani

Yeah, definitely a really annoying one because I loved that video! Hopefully with this I won't have anymore Realta situations 😭

hey, that's pretty cool! I always thought it sucks abt the realta video, that's why i even started reading the comic in the first place :/

Haha, ain't that the truth, can't stop your mind from drawing conclusions from the information you have and the cover is usually the first thing you see. Guess that's why a lot of light novels have really long titles so you know exactly what the plot is immediately!

Matias

Thanks, Matias! And that's not too far from my opinion too, very interesting that some people lie and say "I would never do that". Everyone will have preconceived judgement on something based on looks, even if it's for 3 seconds before you reconsider your thoughts. Always super interesting to hear people's answer on that question haha

Do whichever video you gotta do, we'll be here to watch whatever it is! Can't help but judge a book by it's cover if that's the first impression and you don't know anything about it yet. But if someone recommends something to me because of the contents then I won't really care what the cover looks like.

Matias

That's really interesting actually! I will always read the blurb/summary on the back too tbh. For comics though, I've actually gone out of my way to get editions where the cover was designed by a certain artist πŸ˜‚ That's definitely a comic thing!

Also when it comes to judging a book by it's cover it really depends. Regular reading books doesn't have the biggest impact. It mighy look interesting but I would always look at the back and read the summary to know if it is for me. Comics on the other hand has fooled me a couple of times. Especially Superhero comics like Marvel. Since usually the covers are made by separate artist then who did the pages. I remember picking one cause of the art and being disappointed that it wasn't what the comic looked like. The reason for this was because I've only read manga and the Donald Duck magazine, which were consistent with the art. Was an unexpected experience, which made to look better at what kind book/comic I'm buying.

I am actually really curious about this video covering... well covers. XD Because eveb the saying is used a lot, I haven't seen a lot of people actually talking about it in this sense.
