How Dianna gets her hair washed.

It's easy to forget just how many things we need to do as a person to stay healthy and clean. And when someone is bed-ridden or disabled, that all becomes much more difficult.

This is how Kyle has to wash Dianna's hair.

How Dianna gets her hair washed. How Dianna gets her hair washed. How Dianna gets her hair washed.

Comments

I joined Patreon to help Dianna. We are God's hands/angels upon the Earth. Many, many angels surround Dianna.

Boyd Nethercott

Good man Kyle. Right there for your bride. Stay strong you two…

Clayton Allen

I joined Patreon to help Dianna. I am looking forward to seeing her make new videos.

Ed Bartkiewicz

Diana, you have inspired me as well as so many people. I am sending you love and hope you get well as soon as possible. It seems you are in great hands. Kyle, you are amazing.

Gil Dotan

This is the first time I supported a youtube channel via patreon. I could have never predicted, but this really struck my chord. I fully agree with previous posters, it is so beautiful to see Kyle so very lovingly look after Dianne. I really hope, that Dianne gets better. Kyle, I hope that Dianna will recover from this horrible illness and that you will get her back! Dianna, I hope that you will make a recovery! Best to both of you.

Christian Ludwig

It is so beautiful to see Kyle lovingly wash your hair, There are people all around who love you - it's amazing how many! We are all sending you our love and good wishes for you to get well. Remember that you are not alone in this even though it probably feels like it. That goes for Kyle, too - you're not alone in caring for a loved one who is ill. We are all pulling for both of you.

Katherine Wolfe

Really almost can’t imagine a worse disease than CFS. I really hope for the best to come to you as soon as possible. I am heartened that you have good people around you, which you so much deserve and should have. My thoughts go out to you, Dianne, and all of the good people around you. I haven’t supported you before except from being a loyal subscriber on YouTube, but I hope that many more people will join here on Patreon to support you morally and economically. You are very much loved by so many people and continue to be a light to all your followers as well as to women in science.

Mads Westerback

The one thing that is heartening is seeing that Dianna has people like Kyle there to physically help and support her as well as this online community that cares about and supports her in other ways. I hope things only continue to improve for you Dianna.

Sara

Get well soon! Looking forward to all of your upcoming great Physics contents!

Thank you Kyle for sharing your labor of love! Wishing the best for both of you.

I have been a fan for a long time - most certainly I became a patron to help during this time of challenge - you will be back to normal soon

Giannis Papazafiropoulos

Dianna, each week I have included your name in our weekly prayer requests at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in San Diego, California. You are getting stronger day-by-day and healthier moment-by-moment.

Johnny Law

We’re rooting for you all over the world. A friend of mine from BC Canada drove through to visit me the other day in southern Oregon, and we shared how we’re both proud Patreon members of yours and how you bring a special spark of joy to science. Sending you oodles of the right kind of energy for healing. Beaming love and support to you and your loving husband. **Just read that you’re from Kauai, one of my homes. Aloha! Sending you healing waves from the Garden Isle!

Puanani Reid

Hello Dianna Hello Kyle, I was heartbroken when I heard about you. I hope my small patriot helps to keep the pressure of a little. I promise to send you all the energy I can spare🤗. Your curiosity and joy always brightened my day in Germany. I hope you know how many lifes your videos touched in the whole world. Even if you, at the moment, don't have the energy, your videos still make waves in the minds of the world. Kyle, thank you so much fore taking care of her🤗. Please take a moment to breath and think about that you survived ever hardship in your life till now. And like all those good and bad things "this too shall pass"

Jannic Vierkorn

Hey i hope you're doing well idk if these will reach you but i want to share a couple of jokes to hopefully lift some spirits. One day a pirate captain spots an enemy ship over the horizon he calls to his firstmate "fetch me my red shirt" so the first mate brings him his red shirt battle ensues and they're victorious after the battle the first mate asks him why he asked him to bring him the red shirt. The captain says "If my crew see me bleeding they would be distracted and we'd lose the fight." The first mate is impressed at his captain's bravery and goes back to his work. A week goes by and now the captain sees a fleet of enemey ships over the horizon. He calls to his firstmate "Bring me my brown pants". Q: Why didn't the rock leave the ocean? A: It was too sedimental.

Thomas Gunn

get better real soon ❤️

Gaurab Sundar Dutta

Kyle this isn’t how you have to wash her hair. Look up hair shampoo caps. It’s what I use when unable to shower. It’s like a shower cap with shampoo in it. It will be so much easier on her to do it that way.here are the ones I use. https://homecare.stryker.com/sage-shampoo-cap-7909?sku=7909-E&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8e-gBhD0ARIsAJiDsaVqDEsm3GSbzDyhec053EKOtAbF58hSgSILlr-7qBUMyvnmzt88Mc0aApjYEALw_wcB

Brian Meyer

God bless you Kyle! Get better soon Dianna! We are all praying for you both! You really are fulfilling your promise Kyle. ❤️❣️ You are a good man.

Judith A Mueller

It's upsetting to see such a bright and lively personality like this. I hope she recovers soon.

Patryk

This is first time I ever even considered using patreon, but was completely unaware of what is going on with Dianna's health and was really struck when found out, so maybe it's not much but still something to help our Physics Girl fully recover very soon cause we all missing her content. So I wish you very fast recovery and HAPPY PHYSICING !!

Dawid Tulinski

I have never used Patreon but This news on Dianna hit me hard today. I had no idea. She has such an amazing spirt and energy, news of her sickness really broke my heart. Get well soon Dianna, you're in my prayers.

IT Ninja

Please get better!!! 🙏

Get well PG……

Chaise Te Hira

It’s wonderful that Diana has someone like Kyle to help her! Praying that a full recovery comes soon.

Calvi69$

Props to Kyle!

chromicacid

Well done Kyle! I’ve worn those caregiver shoes and know how hard it can be. I am praying for you and Dianna.

Roger

I hope you're doing better each day!

Robin Smith

Very glad Kyle is there and taking care of her as they’d promised each other. Doesn’t always happen. I salute you, sir!

Kurt Stallings

Kyle, I wish I lived nearby so I could ease some of the burdon for you every now and then, just by getting some groceries or cleaning windows. Nothing intrusive but a few of those things that take so much precious time when you stop to think about it. Diana is a wonderful person and I bet you both love eachother immensely, but this takes its toll on all of you. Please take care, ask for help when you start to feel you might need it. And look forward to the time when Diana can help *you* again. I will keep supporting you two from the Netherlands via Patreon and I hope the rest of the world will do so too.

Eelko de Vos

That's such a clever solution for the luxury of clean hair. It must feel wonderful and comforting. Please know we are pulling for Dianna and you Kyle and sending our hope and strength and healing prayer.

Elizabeth Schmidt

Sometimes everyone need help. I am glad you have some one to help.

No one Else

Sending lots of love and wishes to Diana. I am happy to know she is doing better! We’ll get there to where she’s back to her old good health again.

Manuel Jenkin

We're so glad Diana has the help so badly needed just now. I've been a caretaker. Its the hardest job. We see all of you and pray, deeply, for each of you. Diana will write a book when she recovers. I'll buy that now.

Mac Kettner

Diana touched my heart with her work. she embodied everything I love about the world. She's up there with my childhood hero bill nye. So because of that, and seeing she is getting much needed support from here and from friends... I want to say thank you Kyle. Thank you for taking care of my hero. Thank you for giving her the love a soul like hers deserves. focus tends to surround the victim, and for good reason, but taking care of someone in this condition is not easy. It hurts, it's stressful, and it is an act of true love to endure it for someone. Thank you. I hope both of you will be relieved of this scare as soon as possible in the best possible way.

Rin~

Hi, I am happy to hear about Dianna's day. But you don't need to share her life details except her wanted. I am just a random person who happens to like her work. I hope she is getting well soon. Until that I will support her. (I am not sure, but please do not put any burden on her.) Best wishes, Hitoshi

Hitoshi Yamauchi

Hello! I am sharing my deepest love to you. I am also a long-Covid survivor, whose experiencing Central Sleep Apnea, Nerve degenerative disease. I was bedridden, an unable to breath, unable to Work and unable to eat. I went through all the best doctors and find no hope, until I am treating with Acupuncture and practicing Qigong. After about 6 months, I am able to eat normally, walk normally and sleep much better. I am sending the best wishes to you.

Diem Huyen Hoang

Dianna I hope you feel better very soon. You are a ray of sunshine on YouTube. I have been very entertained and informed by your videos. You have a wonderful ability to make the videos exciting and easy to understand for those of us who are not physicists. Kyle, you are a fantastic person. We should all emulate your care, compassion, and total devotion.

Robert Whitaker

As a fellow often bedridden spoonie I’m def going to try this little blow up portable sink thing. I use the shampoo they use in hospitals where you just wet your head with some then rub with a towel. If you are not sure that this sudden onset disease is only from Covid you should get more opinions. I’m hearing so many stories of people getting it then its discovered the person had an underlying auto immune disease. In my case I was told I had a case of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue for years until Dr Mary Babcock one day diagnosed me with Ehlers-Danlos, a connective tissue disease I’ve had my whole life but it only became disabling when I was carrying my second pregnancy. Don’t give up on finding new Drs and creating a medical team starting with a good GP who works with chronic fatigue. I have a DR who specializes in difficult to diagnose cases and she does video visits for many of her patients. It’s called Artius Integrative Medicine in Virginia. Her website: artiusmedical.com. She passionate and tenacious and she gave me a diagnosis when everyone else didn’t know what it could be. She has me doing vitamin IVs and that helps me feel better when I’m super weak. Some places are able to come to your home hopefully you will be able to find one locally. Hang in there Dianna! I know it’s really no fun but i always just try to take it on one moment at a time. Your cells are very hard at work for you so you can just rest. Sending spoons from Washington DC!

Christina Ferreira

We are all thinking of you, and whenever I come here I see a community of fans taking time to exchange stories, offer advice and care for one another as well. It has been truly humbling to see. There is light even in this darkness.

LoyalBeagle38b

If you need some extra help to lengthen the time between washes and minimize discomfort, there are a few different dry shampoo options out in there, as well as some recipes to make similar products at home. The most common simple ones I know of are baby powder and arrowroot flour, sometimes baking soda. Facial blotting paper is great for dealing with face oils, and my grandma swore by boar bristle brushes for keeping hair clean and tangle free with minimum products. I realize a lot of this may seem out of the blue and maybe know-it-all, but it's stuff my dad looked up after my mom had a double masectomy and couldn't leave the living room armchair for more than a few minutes at a time. It's not the same as CFS, but I hope it might help at least a little to make life a bit less draining. Love and hugs to you and your family in this time of great need.

Cell113

With all the loving quantum intentions I wish for you to metamorphose into metaphysics woman you are to become.

Aurel Chaoul Pelleg

To extend time between washes, I comb my hair/scalp a couple times a day with a wooden comb.

VeeDragon

I think it's really brave of Dianna to let herself be photographed like this.

Stephen Robinson

It takes a lot of courage to share your story, and you are both amazing, Kyle and Dianna. Sending you both lots of love and wishing you all the strength in the world.

Anya and Michael Scarpa

@Violetta Wolkoff Price, long covid seems to be on a lighter side than a generic ME/CFS caused by genetic/environmental/other conditions. And this gives hope for Dianna, a lot of it. I was a covid long-hauler myself, and I made a full recovery. So I know what I'm saying, that's a first-hand information and experience, not some outsider hint or the like. A very big difference between ME/CFS and long-covid is that the former seems to revolve around immunity while the latter is mostly metabolic. Both flavors have lots of intersections, but long-covid is reliably improvable by therapeutical doses of thiamine and niacin multiplied by time. I cannot generalize too much here, but this is what worked for me and for people I know and love.

Shadow Master

I am so sorry Dianna is going through this 😔❤️ I have had cfs for over 5 years, and it is a unique experience for each sufferer, so from my experience to yours, im so sorry you have to know this experience. For me laying on accupressure mats has been one of the few ways I've coped with fibro like pain and regained mobility. Ketamine combined with accupressure mats is a powerful healing experience that deserves more research. I so want there to be a cure for this unreal illness or at least more awareness and compassion. Praying for you to heal🌟✨️☀️✨️🌟

Anna Bender

There's times when you're in so much pain, it's hard to find anything to be grateful for. And then, right before you there's the gift of Levi, friends and family. Look for the light when you think all is dark. You are loved.

Mary Mc

My daily prayers are with you.

Larry Nease

Well spoken. I'm an MD. I wish we had reliable treatments for long COVID and for CFS. I've never doubted the debility and suffering, but desperation can lead to bad decisions and even harm.

Charles Carter

It’s so hard to recover sometimes, so much better when you have someone to care for you.

Wild_Lee_Coyote

Charles Carter

From my wife and I: Sending hugs and love to you both. Thanks for sharing.

You will be missed. /s

Kyle - I suspect caring for Diana is the hardest thing you will ever do. But, don't be afraid to ask for help. You may be surprised by who will help. She is very lucky you are there for her. Thank you

John N Nelson

I was bedridden for many months as a teen, due to Lyme disease; I wish we had an inflatable basin like that: When I wasn't well enough to stand next to the kitchen sink so that my Mom could wash my hair in the sink, my hair didn't get washed. I was so lucky to have my Mom, as Dianna is to have her husband. Thank you for sharing!

Jean-Philippe Suter

"All it takes is the right medications, diet, exercise and time." - Please don't spread this misinformation. Providing hope is one thing, but this comment is not it. My family has been apart of the ME community for 7 years and we know people who have spared no expense trying every intervention possible, with the world's top specialists, my family included among that patient group, and none have made a full recovery. Some people go into remission, why, we don't know, for others this is lifelong. Look at Whitney Dafoe. His father is literally the top researcher in the US for ME/CFS and Whitney is still bedbound with a feeding tube, what, 20 years later? Yes, some medical interventions, ie. IVIG, Plasmapheresis, Low Dose-Naltrexone, Abilify, etc, do provide relief and lower severity in some patients, but there is no known cure or effective treatment for ME/CFS. Let's focus on advocating for research instead of telling people you just have to hit a sweet spot of exercise, meditation, and kale smoothies, please. That's misleading and basically gaslighting.

Violetta Wolkoff Price

I know you guys are getting medical advice left and right from other ME patients but if we could go back in time, we would have tried to just self-pay/crowdfund for a round of plasmapheresis or IVIG on our own as soon as we knew my husband had ME. Instead we had to wait for nearly 2 years for insurance to approve it (and it required getting rid of all our stuff and having a friend help me drive him to the east coast to trigger an insurance change). He's been on it for 3+ years now, will be on it for the rest of his life, but he is ambulatory, can dress himself, and can eat again. Only 30% of his former self and still very disabled but we avoided hospice. Our doctors all believe he would have made a more robust recovery with sooner IVIG intervention. Numerous well-known ME voices also improved tremendously on IVIG. Wishing you the guys the best. I honestly can't believe this is still happening and hardly being talked about in 2023.

Violetta Wolkoff Price

Kyle, you are 100% a hero in my book! Much love to you and Dianna!

MPotter

for better or for worse,, dude,, you've stepped up BIG TIME!! Dianna, gentle hugs,,all the best wishes

TomT

I have no doubt that Dianna will make a full recovery. All it takes is the right medications, diet, exercise and time. However, it is easier said than done. A severe ME/CFS is an excruciating condition, accompanied by neurological pain, functional limitations, reduced bowel movements, POTS, dysphagia and a total, absolutely total lack of energy. Those who still can move are lucky - it much more easier for them to exercise breaking the vicious cycle of pathology. A bed-ridden stage is ugly - it seems like there is no possibility for exercise anymore. However, even then there is a possibility to exercise and improve, step by step, day by day. The following article gives a good overview: https://www.hormonesmatter.com/how-to-exercise-your-mitochondria-when-you-cant-get-out-of-bed/ I hope it will be useful to all those in suffering. EDIT: Please note that this information applies to long covid ME/CFS flavor; other ME/CFS flavors out there are way more nuanced and complicated.

Shadow Master

I'm just a member, but is it hugely unreasonable to suggest that Dianna and Kyle deserve the tiniest bit of slack given all they've have to contend with?

Guys, it will get better, I have hope and faith. Sending positive vibes and love ❤️

Peter Kessler

To both of you: sending love, love, love ❤️❤️❤️

Jeremy Olsen

I have had issues that have left me bedridden for months at a time, and I have a good friend who also has ME, so I have sooooo much empathy for you guys right now, and I am so glad you have so many supports. I am also so grateful that you have such an understanding of science and a good voice to let people know that crap like this happens to people every day, and while we're working on it, our scientific understanding of so many things is infinitesimal compared to what we don't understand yet, especially for things that change like illnesses. The biggest thing we as humans can do is love, have patience, and help each other where we can. There's not always the solutions we want. But there are always helpers, and there is always something we can do. Thank you for all you do and God bless you to find solutions and strength and happiness through this.

Dianna will persevere and grow stronger; Kyle will persevere and grow stronger. We should all be so fortunate as to have our needs seen to by so devoted a caregiver. Three cheers for Kyle and Dianna!

gregg r

Thank you for taking such good care of her Kyle!

steve crandall

Clever and resourceful. One day at a time. Sending hugs to both of you.

Barry

That is a really clever solution. A friend of mine had triplets and, having produced my own one at a time, I said "How do you manage three all at once?". He smiled and said "You invent machines". Kyle, you're a hero. Hang in there mate, once you get through this you'll get through anything the future may throw in your path ever again.

David Page

Craig Allen Corson

Big up Kyle! You're an inspiration. Sending love to both of you.

Mickaël Godard

I bet that had to feel good. Small steps are all we need to go forward. Cheers!

This seems like a reasonable solution to that aspect of her care. I hope it helps Dianna feel better too! Sending best wishes!!

John DeJarnatt

There are some difficulties and limitations that are obvious but many that are not until you or a loved one has to deal with them. Thank you Kyle for being there. Hang in all of you and keep us informed; let us know what we can do to help.

This is a marathon not a sprint. Biggest one of your lives. No shame in a crew cut. Big hugs 💜

Kyle, thank you from us all for taking care of her. I know it's not easy. Kyle is on a special, higher level, but we all love you, want you to be a chipper, happy Dianna again. Wish I believed in the Christian god, just to say "I'm praying for you," but maybe others can fill this in.

Dennis Blackburn

Thoughts are abound and let's hope that in some way, this energy converts to power to heal. :-)

D L

Sending good thoughts and empathy for the patient, and the caregivers. Chronic illness is so, so difficult. I remember, caring for my loved one, the grief at being unable to plan anything at all. It's a grind, but she's going to get better. This is not forever. Take time to listen to the birds and feel the air on your face. Be gentle with yourselves. Keep hope alive.

Sabrina

We are all thinking of your and sending our love and best wishes! Get well soon! We are here for you!

Sending love and hugs to both you and Kyle. Best wishes for a full recovery. And thank you for all that you do as Physics Girl. ❤️

George Starr

I remember the creativity required to do this for my wife. It is just one of the many things needed to be done when caring for a loved one who can't do these things for themselves. Stay strong Kyle, family, friends and Diana. Take care of each other and yourselves. Know you are loved and supported.

Roger Peterson

It must be so difficult to lose one's independence and become so completely reliant on someone else. My heart goes out to Diana, but also a huge kudos to Kyle for being there and caring for her. It cannot be easy to watch someone you love go through this while also being one of their primary sources of care. Wishing the best for both and look forward to when they can return to their life making informative and entertaining videos together.

FourRaccoonsInaTrenchCoat

Ugh. I remember being this sick with long COVID and ME/CFS. It has taken two years post infection, and I am still not 100%. But it gets better!

kn0tsin

It's so easy to overlook the small things that make up our daily lives and how difficulty they can get if you end up bed ridden or otherwise handicapped. Diana is extremely lucky to have such a strong and loving husband. Stay strong, stay with her. It will pay back many times after she recovers. And while it might take a long time, I'm somehow sure she will. All the best to both of you.

Sven Mueller
