It is nearly the middle of the month already.... not sure where it is flying away to!
To space out all these 'Spring cleaning' posts with something a bit more interesting, I thought I would show off a bit of what I have been working on recently ....
Sneak Peak at the the next 2 Settlement maps
These have both been cooking for a while now and I am glad to finally have some time for them…
The left one is something a little different and is based on a real place… somewhere in Greece I think. I found it on google maps one day and liked the feel of it. It should be finished in the next few weeks (needs a few trees yet!)
The Right hand one started life as a rough sketch last year sometime and I am thoroughly enjoying bringing it to life finally. The buildings will probably end up being a bit bigger that they are in the sketch, and fewer of them perhaps.
September Shield-a-Day Challenge
At the start of the month I spotted a few illustrators participating in the Swordtember challenge online (drawing a sword a day based on a list of prompts).
On a whim I draw a shield, because I thought that they were being massively under represented…
I enjoyed the process more than I had expected to, and have continued with 1 every day since then. I am up to 11 so far…
Each one has been a new challenge in lighting effects and surface materials. some are average, some are quite impractical, some can only loosely be called ‘shields’, others are much better ….
I will add a few more, then tidy them all up at the end of the month, turn them into a proper collection & let you know what I do with them :-)
