Common Room S3E19: Borange Beer 2

We invent new wizard bevvies, grouse about 3D Mario, discuss the intricacies of medieval land ownership, and catch up with a little bit of the goings on in Hinamizawa (spoilers, as always, for the whole When They Cry series) as our Twilight mission looms on the horizon...

My best Crusader Kings 2 story (c/w for grooming-type behavior and general sadness): I started as a random Swedish viking guy with two young daughters. After a few in-game years, I joined my friend in a viking raid on England. I was captured and executed by the English king. Without a male heir, my eleven-year-old daughter inherited my title and became the new player character. She was very sheltered and traumatized by her father's death, but her younger sister was her best friend and closest confidante. When my new character came of age, she fell in "love" with one of the vikings who'd been on the raid where her father died--he was older, handsome, married, and a total creep. He renounced her when she became pregnant, and her fiance broke their betrothal -- she was damaged goods, now. She was forced into a loveless marriage to try to save her reputation, and gave birth to a son. She became intensely depressed -- a few years later, after her sister came of age, she caught her in bed with the very same man who'd impregnated and abandoned her. Despite her warnings, the sister refused to end the affair -- she was in "love." The only way to protect her from him was to marry her off, and have her safe in some far-distant court. The sister was furious, and their relationship was severely damaged. My character died in childbirth a few years later, having never reconciled with (or even spoken to) her sister after their falling out. I did whatever the sadness equivalent of a rage-quit is and didn't play for months :(

If anyone's like, "hmm, would I like Crusader Kings 3?" I'd say it's like a slower-pace, more open-ended Civilization game with more interpersonal drama. If you like simulation/sandbox games AND you're a messy bitch who lives for drama, you'll probably enjoy it! CK3 is a lot more accessible than CK2, so it's a good place to jump in if you're new to the series.

as a kid i committed the same tea crime as xeecee only with opposite logic, i had basic fruit tea with lemon and sugar and then had the brilliant idea of trying out what i've learnt in english class about the british drinking tea with milk. it was not a great idea. ( tbh to this day i dont understand why they never explained to us dumb kids that it's supposed to be black tea, not the fruity decaf one that's common in my country)
