Lil late but I figured ill answer your question anyways. I am part of the younger generation youre speaking of, and yes I do have trouble in social situations. Never outwardly hostile like Alex had mentioned but awkward. I feel that there is a culture in my generation of having the friends that youve got and not needing/wanting to venture out of that circle. I think this leads to difficulties with small talk, pleasantries, greetings, and the like. We just dont have to do this in our everyday lives like you guys might have had to. Just a straight up lack of experience with meeting/talking to new people, which I believe can be construed as hostility. Times change, people are different, we dont hate you. Thanks for reading my poorly written message.

As someone who is the Bros age, I had trouble communicating with people until I was about 24-25 and here's why! I had agoraphobia until I started to work on it when I was 23/24. Because of this I had no social experiences outside of online interactions since I never left my apartment. I also left school at 17. That means I had 7 years or so of missed social growth. This made being a 20-ish adult difficult because I didn't know how to interact with people of that age. I also didn't know what was acceptable because cellphones were omnipresent now. They weren't when I left school. Only certain people had them because they were seen as a wasted expense because everyone had a landline at home. I can 100% understand what the pandemic generation is going through since I had already gone through it. It just takes genuine effort to overcome the lack of social experience. Eventually everyone learns most of what they need to as long as they are willing to learn.

I work with kids in elementary/middle school and some of them definitely have some socialization problems, i.e. not saying thank you or whatever, which may be from COVID, but there's always a point in a kid's life when they don't know manners, or are just too shy. Most of the teens and young adults I talk to are surprisingly outgoing and polite. Of course some can be rude, but I don't think it's an unnatural phenomenon caused by COVID, as teenagers being rude and mean has been a stereotype for like generations now. And I think as every generation gets older and matures they look at younger people and think "wow these guys suck" lol

That QoD reminds me of allllll the people on the teachers subreddit posts about people talking about how awful this current generation is, its so much bigger than COVID now it seems :( I am just outside of this age range, COVID hit after I graduated college.
