SHHG! Episode 23: Clock Mentioned
Added 2024-02-16 15:00:17 +0000 UTCCatching Fire chapters 22 & 23
TWO giant reveals that we avoided having spoiled! Can you believe it!? This one is particularly funny, given our hobby trajectories of late. This awesome new arena mechanic is revealed alongside an exciting action sequence, some ridiculous (complimentary) side characters joining Katniss's party, some ridiculous (derogatory) Peeta moments, and some small worldbuilding revelations that send us reeling. Plus! More Strings Drama--and a step back into the mysterious world of three detectives with curious names...

I was looking for it in the UK, and for some reason the book is called Holmes, Margaret and Poe, which is an even funnier title than the American one (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C9R673WS/). Now it’s two last names and a first name, as well as being two fictional characters and one real.

2024-02-21 20:32:18 +0000 UTCWith the return of strings drama, I was actually finally able to think of a good comparison to illustrated the issue with the sheet music! It's like if I have a few friends who came up to me and expressed interest in the Shrieking Shack's bonus episodes. Instead of encouraging them to support you, I instead tell them not to bother, as I already do and therefore have access to the bonus episodes. Instead of encouraging them to support your bonus content, I invite them to my house to listen to them together, so now, instead of you having more supporters, I have 20 people in my house on a Wednesday, listening for free. How serious you think that is will depend on personal ethics, after all, it's just in my house, right? But the reality is, that's 20 potential subscribers I've siphoned away. Now extrapolate that out over multiples, and you can start to see just how much something that may at first glance seem victimless can have far-reaching effects if everyone shares that view of IP.

2024-02-20 09:21:07 +0000 UTCUnrelated to anything about this episode but I just wanted to say “the money fandom” is such a great, funny, and valuable phrase that I was overcome with the urge to spontaneously thank you two for coining it. I think about it often.

2024-02-19 15:13:16 +0000 UTCkatniss if you jumped into the painting that took you to hunger games 2 while the hour hand is near 3 o'clock then you could make everyone slow down and win the hunger games really easy. you could have run away from the slow-motion monkey horde no problem

2024-02-19 00:07:58 +0000 UTCive been thinking about when you guys are like "how did we not get spoiled on X weird thing", and i honestly think the weird scifi bits in this series reach some kind of bizarreness threshold where it all just becomes texture and somehow less noteworthy. bc thinking back to the height of the books popularity, i don't really remember talking about those things much with my friends. and i will say for me, i find some of the weirdest things in the series difficult to visualize honestly? so i end up like "well i guess i just have to accept that at face value" but not really feeling any particular way about them

2024-02-17 12:57:19 +0000 UTCRocky Top jumpscare! My college played (and got destroyed by) Tennessee in a bowl game when I was in marching band, and I could not hear that song for YEARS without having horrible memories of the bowl experience lmao. We played a bowl game in Nashville a couple years later, so I STILL couldn't escape hearing it!

2024-02-16 16:57:20 +0000 UTCI wonder if Katniss becomes Mayor, she's gonna be like "Unprepared children will no longer die in the Hunger Games. Cause I'm introducing a child labor bill, so they'll be experienced in how to use explosives and swing a hoe in the Hunger Games." When Katniss becomes old, she's definitely gonna be like "Kids these days would never survive the Hunger Games."
