Related trivia: The Huntington Transit agency is called Tri State Transit in spite of the fact it hasn't actually gone to Ohio or Kentucky for some years. Lawrence County, Ohio now runs its own service to Ironton. To reach Ashland in Kentucky, you need to either dog leg via Ironton or walk over the bridge from Kenova, WV to take the Ashland Transit system from Catlettsburg, KY.

2026-01-18 16:47:10 +0000 UTCUnrelated, just bothering you on the nearest available thread with a big brain idea: From 2009 to 2015, a twice daily bus ran between Huntington and Charleston in West Virginia, branded 'Intelligent Transit' for some reason. I took it a couple times, Gilligs on the highway, great fun. With it gone, the only way from Huntington to Charleston that isn't fuck o'clock Greyhound or Amtrak is five buses on three agencies: TTA to Huntington Mall, Tri River Transit to West Hamlin, then Hamlin, then Trace Fork, then finally KRT into Charleston. It would be a very Miles adventure. You can also continue at least as far as Ironton, Ohio in the West and Montgomery in the East on transit buses, maybe further.

2025-04-28 00:41:46 +0000 UTCSo, regarding Home2Suites. I think Hilton views it as a long-term type of hotel stay brand, and hence, devalues points offered there. I stayed at one for two weeks in Salt Lake during an extended ski trip this winter. The full-ish sized kitchen is great for making food (fun fact, you can get a plug-in hot plate to make food at the front desk). The one I stayed at also offered breakfast, but it was just OK. Did you get any? Awesome video. What the long-term situation with the Amtrak cars? Wanted to do PDX-YVR soon, but not if its a bus vs a train.
