[BONUS VIDEO] I Rode the Bus System in Indian River County, FL. It Wasn't Great.

And in the midst of all the Great Race to New York stuff and a livestream, I somehow managed to edit this bonus video together! I hope everyone enjoys this lowkey look at a pretty standard suburban Florida bus system.

Another Vero native here who joined for this video. I actually spent a few weeks in 2019 riding every route just to map them all on Openstreetmap, and yes, the whole system is not very useful. Was shocking to realize how many stops are just signs stuck in grassy ditches by dangerously busy roads with zero way to reach them by sidewalk.

I joined as well just for this. Vero is where my family lives, and I've visited countless times since I was a kid. Coming from Toronto, seeing the absolute lack of dignified public transportation in suburban Florida just makes me feel for the people who have to rely on this.

I joined your Patreon just to see this! Vero is my hometown and wanted to see what you thought about it. A decade ago, when I was in high school there, the only folks that ever used the bus were older and usually on social security. That's why a lot of the transit hubs are in places that old folks need to get to. As a teen it was pretty much useless. Vero's just too spread out, doesn't even help people get to their jobs effectively. I moved to St. Pete for college and Pinellas county's transit system is much, much better. If you have a chance you should check PSTA out. Love the Central Ave Trolley and the MLK line that repeats "Doctor Martin Luther King Junior Street North" for every stop.
