[EARLY VIDEO] Benson - Least Used Amtrak Station in AZ

So this video is actually TWO weeks early, because I'm shooting for next week's video to be a timely release for both Patreon and the main channel. Enjoy!

Wife of a USPS letter carrier here. Yeah, those are called cluster boxes. They definitely save the letter carrier a ton of time compared to individual boxes on each house/apartment.

ok :D

That's too bad, we had a decent Horseshoe experience - although I did much prefer R&R Pizza. We took the westbound Amtrak all the way to LA so we could do the full Sunset trip report, but then we did an LA-Pomona trip to get that!

Ah, good to know!

Thank you!

Yeah, Phoenix is only served by Maricopa, which isn't particularly close...

Dunno

Least used station in Florida when

I was on the Sunset Limited back in April (although heading the other way) and the fact that there was a stop here and not, like, Phoenix was absolutely baffling

Plenty of excellent vids with others, but NOTHING can touch the chemistry of a Miles & Jackon trip.

If only Amtrak and Greyhound could actually stop at that Visitor center.

Chris Wyatt

Yes those big mail box sets are common. My whole town has only those.

I cannot begin to explain how much I needed this video to just inject a little happiness into my day. That train controller set up they had at the visitor center gave me the tism tinglies big time!

Ooh, I wonder what next weeks videos are

The Horseshoe Cafe's neon sign is upside down which is bad luck ☹️ I guess that explains why housing stock wasn't mentioned even though houses were called out. At least we got a little taste of your "troll commenter" voice in the arcade. And yes, those large mailbox units are common in communities with low housing density. The suburban neighborhood I grew up in in Lincoln, NE was covered by one of those mailboxes.

Andrew Nerys

The Horseshoe Cafe that is.

To Jackson’s point, they stop the Amtrak cars that they need. Sometimes it will be only 1, but sometimes up to 4. They don’t necessarily sort it by where you’re going. Since 1/2 the train comes from Chicago and the other half New Orleans it’s also impossible to only stop 1 car sometimes. I actually had a pretty bad experience at that cafe, the food was terrible and the staff were quite rude. I assumed when you went to Benson you would go there and I was interested to see what your experience was. @10:42 that’s the Eastbound Amtrak horn - for a second I thought you were trying to catch that train. When I was in Benson, I looked up a cab to take me to Kartchner Caverns. I paid the guy a $100 and in return he basically became my personal driver during my two days there. He said he only worked on weekends, however. So, Greyhound to Lordsburg, Westbound Amtrak to Pomona?

Peter

I need this today man. Thanks for the good vibes as always.

Dang I'm probably driving (angry reacc) through Benson for Thanksgiving. If only I could get there by train from Flagstaff without a change in...Los Angeles?
