[EARLY VIDEO] Pomona - Least Used Amtrak Station in CA

Yeah, New Brunswick is the big one in that category! Also Newark, DE; Rockville, MD; and North Philadelphia, PA!

On a side note, the Sunset Limited is the only passenger train that uses the Alhambra Subdivision, which is a section of UP track that's actually totally separate from the one the Metrolink San Bernardino Line uses. So you got to see some pretty rarely-seen views for a L.A. train rider!

Nice to see more L.A. content! The buses with the Metro Rapid livery pretty much only run on local routes these days. Metro used to have a whole network of Rapid routes, but they got rid of all but 3 of them after the pandemic and shuffled the buses around to do more frequent service on the local routes. It was one of those network reorganization plans that had some pretty harsh tradeoffs. I don't know if they're ever going to repaint the buses, I'm guessing it's a pretty low priority for them.

Nah, New Brunswick was a least used Amtrak video but it is super popular NJ Transit train station

Also, I think this is the only least-used station that is used by another rail service, and in this case, is heavily used by another rail service?

Well, let me make a comment about something mentioned just in passing... hills versus mountains! To me, it is a very clear difference because I think of mountains as being too steep and tall to have settlements or even buildings, and usually have gravel roads or no roads at all, and are often part of public lands. Hills still have buildings and roads, and the land is usually owned privately. The reason this isn't just something I am saying to troll on Reddit is that land use in the Western states is actually pretty important for us, especially with climate change! I've sometimes read comments about wildfires where people wonder why "they don't just put the fires out", and I think that if someone images that the Sierra Nevadas look like the Green Mountains of Vermont, it seems weird that fires can get so big without being controlled! But then when you think about it in terms of areas that have no roads to bring equipment on, and sometimes no structures to protect, it makes more sense. So a lot of why I actually make a point about things like this is that it has to do with real important issues, not just us bragging! (And if you want even more political background, which I am sure you do, for historic reason, the US Forest Service, which administers gigantic parts of the public lands in the American West, is part of the US Department of Agriculture, which is traditionally focused and run by people from big, food producing states in the midwest, and who often don't really understand the specific problems of rural areas in the Western states.)

North Philadelphia!

Ahh, thank you!

Thank you!

I think it has to be! It has over 100,000 people. So I guess we just have to wait for his "Least used station in D.C." video to drop to outdo it.

What a great video.

My current local transit agency, Capital Transit (Juneau) was also an early adopter of a Proterra BEB and also abandoned it on account of it constantly breaking, especially in winter. They’re currently rolling out an all-Gillig BEB fleet.

I loved Jackson's tribute to David Lynch for the menu shot.

The first Least Used Station that I've actually been to! Not on Amtrak, but still. Also the Comet cars were transferred to Surfliner use to make way for the new Venture cars on the San Joaquins.

I wonder if Pomona is the largest city in your least used series?
