How does that happen ? No one seeing that would call it a shelter. It isn't even doing a good job of telling people DASH buses stop there.

We need a song. Jackson music / Alex lyrics.

Another thing about this I love: the part where you talk about political polarization. One thing about almost any discussion in the United States is it has turned into a discussion of stereotypes of stereotypes of stereotypes... and then here, you pull us all back to reality by pointing out the type of nuts and bolts decisions that are still a lot of what government does.

I think we as a society should bring holy objects to the la Sombrita and place them as sacrifices in front of its holiness. Eventually there will just be an alter to the La Sombrita and the wiki article will have to discuss it

I feel like the objective measure of whether or not it's a failure is that in the eight minutes you were standing there, four buses pull up and not a single passenger was using La Sombrita. (Also, not to be too self-promote-y, but if you're curious, I did a podcast where I did a little digging into the consulting firm behind it all, and yes, they did take a trip to Europe: https://transitinglosangeles.com/2023/05/23/podcast-5-la-sombrita/ )

Back when I was on twitter I made fun of this the day it came out and it was my most liked tweet for a long time

As I've mentioned, I am currently in Costa Rica and I like complaining about the infrastructure. But also, even little rural roads here have bus shelters and they are real bus shelters and they also probably took less than $2000 to build.
