Early bonus video! This is technically the "July" one but I wanted to get it out early since I'm about to go on a big trip and figured this is the best time to hear about if I need to make any changes with this new camera. Some notes on that:
-I left my old one (a Canon G9X, which has been the model I've used since 2018) on a Southwest plane a couple weeks ago (I know, insanely stupid and careless). I submitted a lost and found form but nothing yet.
-It's a Sony ZV-E10 II.
-I think visually it's unequivocally better, but you can let me know if that's not the case. There's a more intense stabilizer than the setting I have but it crops the image a ton so I don't personally think it's worth it.
-Audio is trickier. Since filming this video, I lowered the "audio rec level" (it seems like it should hover around -12 dB ideally?) and turned off the "wind noise reduction" (it seemed to lead to weird inconsistencies in quality, and I have a little camera toupee that it's theoretically redundant to anyway) but I haven't been able to test out these new settings yet. Let me know if these are good changes or if I should do anything else to improve audio!
-That said, I don't want to use external mics; I think having another thing I need to turn on - ALONG with any guests I'm with! - ruins the spontaneity that is the most important thing to me.
-Also I'm purposely filming in HD 30 FPS (rather than 4K 60 FPS, which the camera can do) because I still prefer the "lo-fi" look! Am I crazy?
Thanks so much for any feedback!
