Toile: Parka

My biggest sewing project yet. Not a complete garment but I include the basic lining, zipper and side vent. The most difficult part is the side vent because this is my first time doing it.

It takes me three days to sew but the preparation before that took weeks. You can download the pattern here. (The PDF for projector tracing on A1 cutting mat, not print).

My resources:

1. The previous post list my sources for the basic block.

2. I spend a lot of time watching random YouTube videos. Most just cover basic parka without any lining. My usual go to is Atelier Saison because they show every step, but only some are applicable to this project.

3. For the zipper, I mainly refer to ESMOD Fashion Details Vol 3 (p20). However, differ from the diagram (red box), I do not have separate facing and lining. Alternatively, you can refer to Aldrich Chapter 7 and look for "Standard zipper front with extension" or "Concealed zipper front with extension". The actual parka from Canada goose actually has another zipper to connect to the inner blouson, but this is too advance for me.

4. I cannot find any sources on side vent, but it is actually similar process to center-back vent. I follow the step in ESMOD fashion detail Vol 3 "lined vent ready to wear men's wear" (p160) but I ignore the pleat.

5. I used "french seam" for the shoulder and armhole of the outer layer. You can easily search this on Youtube.

BONUS: I want to show off my new workspace which I spend the whole day setting it up :)
