Toile: Corset

This turned out better than I anticipated as my first ever corset! It proves that if you take times to learn the basic, you can make anything. Nothing can go wrong as long as you get the pattern right.

I spend some Patreon money to buy plastic bonings, grommets and cotton tapes for some of the boning channels. I'm so glad I bought the grommet kit this time because I finally learn how to install the grommet/eyelet. No doubt I will use it a lot in future projects.

I cannot further tighten the lacing because the grommets become dislodged. I should have reinforced that part with fusible interfacing. I'm just using some rope I have laying around, which is too stiff, so next time I should buy proper lacing.

Apart from watching some corset making videos on YouTube, I mostly follow this book by Linda Spark. I made the simplest type, which is the single layer corset, without the opening busk.

You can download all the files in the attachment. The Seamly2D file will also calculate the required length of each boning. But the file is lagging, and I still have not fix it. Not sure it is because of my mistake, or the bug within the program itself.

I used Linda Spark's book as my main guide for corset making during my master's, definitely recommend it. You did a great job on your piece.
