0066 - Wendell Borton
Added 2022-02-10 09:00:03 +0000 UTCPoor Wendell. A character defined by a sole trait: a weak stomach. His only role in the show is when some kind of puke joke needs to be made, and we see little else of Mr Borton's inner life throughout.
I can see how a character like this would be appealing as a comedy tool early in the series, but really there's only so much that can be done with the concept, and so Wendell fell out of favour pretty quickly. As a result, he's one of the Springfield children with multiple voice actors - he can go years without speaking, and it can be hard to track who does his voice in between.
Here's what I like about Wendell: his curly impossible hair line and bright green shoes, a bold fashion choice. Even if the concept of a character made only to barf makes me a little queasy myself.

2022-06-06 08:46:44 +0000 UTCAs someone who was chronically nauseous as a kid, to the point where I went to the nurse every morning in 6th grade because of the motion sickness from the busride to school genuinely making me feel like I was gonna hurl, I've always had a soft spot for Wendell. Maybe if modern Simpsons attempts to direct one of their clumsy commentaries towards chronic illness, I'll finally get that Wendell episode I've always wanted.
