BONUS! Church Outfits
Added 2022-10-19 08:00:04 +0000 UTCAs this is the first time in the show that the Simpsons attend church, this is the first time we see these recognisable outfits, which are pretty consistent throughout the show. A couple of notes:
- slicking down Bart's hair like that really makes me question how it works exactly. The spikes appear to usually be protruding from the end of a cylindrical head, but here they appear to two rows of spikes, which can be organised with a straight parting through the middle. Yes, I know I'm overthinking it but a) I'm an artist, I think visually and b) the details are why you're here...I think.
- I think Marge's outfit - or at least the hat - are another reference Jacqueline Kennedy. I haven't cracked the Marge/Jacqueline Kennedy connection yet, why it seems to be a part of her background, but I thought it was worth noting. Maybe I'm seeing connections that aren't there. Yes, I know I'm overthinking it but a) after a year of this I've trained myself to find meaning in the smallest things and b) the details are why you're here...I think.
