0224 - District Attorney
Added 2023-05-29 08:00:01 +0000 UTCThe unnamed district attorney is the opposite of what we normally see here - he has such a distinctive appearance that I thought he showed up far more often than he actually does.
He first shows up in Krusty's court case:
and then later on the prosecution bench in "Bart the Murderer", although it is Blue-Haired Lawyer that cross-examines witnesses in this trial:
But between these appearances he is seen as a Senator, in "Mr Lisa Goes To Washington":
Forgive my ignorance on American law, but I don't think a district attorney gets bumped up to senator and then back down to prosecutor in such a short space of time, but hey-ho.
His only other appearance is in "Dog of Death", in which Mr Burns shows Santa's Little Helper a series of disturbing images to train him, a Clockwork Orange reference:
From restoring a little girl's faith in democracy to torturing dogs. You can't pin this guy down!
As I said, I assumed he appeared more because of his notable design, which I learned is partially based on prominent lawyer Clarence Darrow:
Darrow is perhaps most famous for being part of the Scopes Monkey Trial, which was (much later) parodied Futurama episode "A Clockwork Origin", whose title is ALSO a Clockwork Orange reference. SPOOKY.
