In the very niche industry of cataloguing Simpsons characters, today is a very exciting day. Well, "exciting" is relative I suppose. 99% of the Earth's population will find this very mundane. Hopefully you're in the 1%.
As Homer wakes up to discover he has hair, he prances through the streets gaily, greeting people excitedly. He passes Moes, our old friends the Winfields, and an oddly-early morning funeral, led by Lovejoy. He shouts "good morning" to them, they respond in kind. These five (plus Lovejoy) are the five who respond to him, the other two do not visibly speak.

At first I was merely tickled/infuriated by the fact that all these characters take up such a small amount of screentime, but must still be covered. The rules of what constitutes as a "crowd scene" have been so ill defined that I wasn't sure if these characters counted or not, but it's probably pretty clear by now that I tend to err on the side of caution when determining who is worthy of inclusion. Spreading all five of these bozos across two and a half weeks seems fruitless, so we'll cover them all here.
But then I noticed.
Computer, zoom and enhance.

Closer.

CLOSER, DAMNIT.

OKAY THAT'S TOO CLOSE.
Did you recognise them? Did they look familiar? Like they had already been seen mourning?

That's right, back in "Life On The Fast Lane", we saw some of these same characters mourning someone else, albeit with different hair colours. I guess in the model pack these guys were picked out as "mourners", making them the unluckiest characters in the show! I'll be curious to see if they show up again at another funeral. in the future.
It's probably worth mentioning that I actually even covered them already, but now they get the coveted upgrade to speaking numbered characters! Good for you, random family. I'm sorry for your loss.
