We're ending the episode with the most significant character introduced! More people could name the Capital City Goofball than Larry I'd wager, but Larry appears in FAR more episodes. He has even appeared in Moe's Tavern a few times prior to this, including in "Some Enchanted Evening" (the first production episode), where Moe even refers to him by name:

But he finally makes his debut in this project due to his interest in Homer's story in "Dancin' Homer":

Larry is a character I've covered a couple of times in my art, and people are always surprised that he and Sam have names, as visible in season 6's "Fear of Flying":

Not much else is known about him, although he is a constant in Moe's. In season 8's "El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)" he refers to Homer as a 'colleague', although I see no evidence that he works at the plant, so perhaps he considers drinking to be a full time profession. He's very good at this job, sometimes pulling a double shift by being there twice at one time (in season 4's "Duffless"):

The show never really defines him beyond his ability to drink, but somehow he is still very recognisable - I think most casual fans would be able to identify him as a patron of Moe's bar, at least. It's a weird in between space that is only possible in a show as popular as this, where he is barely a character, but the fact that we have finally gotten to him over 300 entries in still feels monumental.

No, I don't know when we'll get to Sam.
