0368 - Actor
Added 2024-09-05 08:00:01 +0000 UTCAs with other characters in previous episodes, I've made the pedantic distinction that this guy is an actor, and he does not actually fall to his grizzly death in the fiction of the show.
His role as "Police Captain" can be seen again in "The War Of The Simpsons", in a scene that presumably takes place before he falls out of a window:
It's also possible that this actor reprises his role in the TV show "McGarnagle" (fromt he end of season 5's "Bart's Inner Child") - the police chief character here sounds very similar, but is never shown.
Frinkiac seems to think it's "McGonigle". I've always heard "McGarnagle". The production script I found does not have this scene. This is a mystery we will have to leave unsolved, unless you are one of those nerds who bothers Simpsons writers about details from scripts they wrote 30 years ago.
Before I set you free to go about the rest of your day, let's examine the moment in which the police chief hits the pool outside his office (I heard he did this stunt himself! Impressive!)
Blink and you'll miss them, but I spy our old friends The Gammels (the mother and son, anyway), and in the top left is this actor, it's good to see him getting some movie work!
